It seems miracle, but there are still spectacular landscapes in Greece that are not yet overcrowded with tourist. That would describe Pelion.

The Pelion Peninsula:

The Pilio peninsula lies to the east of the country, between the ** Aegean Sea ** and ** Pagaseti Gulf ** and is formed by a spectacular mountain range. This is an area often named in Greek mythology, among other reasons for being the home of centaurs. The eastern flank is formed by almost inaccessible cliffs and hides some of the most spectacular beaches in Greece. An example is the Mylopotamos beach, which we will visit in this post.

Portaria:

To get to the eastern side of the peninsula the ascent begins at Volos on a road full of curves . About 13 km from Volos and at about 600 meters of altitude, we find a charming village called Portaria. Its captivating main square and its numerous hotels and restaurants, make Portaria an unbeatable stop.

In the main square of Portaria there are some "tavernakia" that serve local food ... an opportunity that you can not miss! A traditional dish is the "spetzofai", consisting of country sausages and peppers in a spicy tomato sauce.

Zagora:

If we drove from Portaria directly to theMylopotamos beach it would take more than an hour to cover about 40 km of curves, running the risk of being tired the moment we finally got to the beach. In my opinion it is much more advisable to visit some of the 78 beautiful villages lost among the vegetation of the mountain range. In our case we visit Zagora.

Mylopotamos Beach:

From Zagora you can visit several beaches. One of them is the Mylopotamos beach.

Mylopotamos Beach

Milopotamos is a beach of white pebbles, with crystalline waters of an undeniable beauty. It is divided into two sections with a winding path from one part to another. Many Greeks consider it the most beautiful beach in the country and is often on the "best beaches in Europe list".

Tip: take your time to explore the area because it is expectacular and its inhabitants are the friendliest people in the world !
