The end of a long week...
The above is the Pilgrim's church in Plymouth, MA.
I have probably driven about 400 miles this week... hopping between work locations in New Hampshire and Massachusetts... Now I am at Boston's Logan Airport dealing with flight delays... and the nearest beer is much too far away.
Tuesday evening I met friends for dinner in Haverhill, MA. We talked long into the night and I totally forgot to get any photos!
Well... I did grab this one of a geocache in New Hampton, NH...
I found this gravestone nearby, its people had an interesting history, they spent much of their lives working in India and being Missionaries for their church.
Then on Wednesday my location cancelled our meetings so I had all day to drive to the Plymouth, MA area. And it took all day since I kept getting phone calls and then when I stopped to check out a cemetery, it was pouring rain so I waited for the weather to clear.
Why stop to check out a cemetery? Well, I am a geneaologist... and I happened to know that my husband's family is from this region!
I came to this place looking for Captain Josiah Keith, but his gravestone is missing, possibly due to the widening of the nearby road. Which is too bad because he would have been my husband's 5th great-grandfather!
At a nearby cemetery I spotted more of the family-
And then a few more-
But wait... a mystery... where is Abigail's husband's stone? I went 30 minutes out of my way to find this Cemetery... specifically to get a picture of this particular person's Husbands' Stone.
Of course, I couldn't resist sending my husband that picture and accusing him of time travel and having other wives! But he claims that it hasn't happened yet... :)
At a nearby pond the old millstone is hanging out being decorative-
And of course... a geocache nearby!
Thursday evening before dinner I wandered the cemetery on top of Burial Hill in Plymouth, Massachusetts. It has a lot of very old Graves and some cool views! I highly recommend taking the time to check this place out if you ever get a chance. And yes, there was a geocache here to find. :)
Looking toward Plymouth Harbour-
This guy is someone's ancestor... but probably not ours!
And finally, we have some trees blooming near the church:
And last evenings' beer! A Cisco Brewers Grey Lady witbier served at The New World Tavern. Good flavor, smooth and low abv so I didn't have to worry about driving back to my hotel later. :)
Looks like my new flight has just been delayed, I guess I better go figure out what's going on next... Wish me luck!
You have a minor misspelling in the following sentence:
It should be cemetery instead of cemetary. Thanks, fixed!
excellent photos but I dare say you seem to hang out in a lot of old cemeteries. and a nice beer!
Yep, I enjoy wandering around old cemeteries in regions that I know I have family and seeing if I spot any names from my trees! Plus there aren't other people there usually, so they are a good place to take a walk and not be disturbed.
And a walk deserves a beer! :)
Very interesting profession in geneaology! I know it's superstitious, but I always hold my breath when I drive past a cemetery. That old superstition ingrained into us as children. :)
That is a great old superstition! Lol, I would pass out if I did that. :)
So, if I get sent back in time I should keep an eye out for Abigail? :) I haven't even started researching time travel yet, guess I will someday huh.
