Lake Toba from Different Side . . . (North Sumatera, Indonesia)
Holla steemians, this is my first story to tell. Have a cup of coffee then coz this is maybe long story.
Let’s get lost in a world made of camp fires, cozy music, adventures, rainy days & late night conversations with people we love.
Lake Toba is volcanic lake (formed due to volcanic activity) with wide area +/- 1,130 Km2. Almost 2 times the size of Singapore. Because of the size of Lake Toba there may be tens / hundreds of different places to enjoy its beauty.
Such as Tele Tower, Pusuk Buhit, Silalahi (Paropo), Simalem Resort, and Many more. And of course every place offers different sights.
I have my own favorite place to enjoy the view of Lake Toba, I assure this place quiet, comfortable, and beautiful. It is Gonting Hill. This hill is the perfect place to enjoy the beauty of the small island, Tulas Island. And this place is perfect for you who like camping or outdoor activity.
This hill is located not far from the town of Pangururan, Samosir.
The right hill is called Gonting, we can build our tent behind the hill.
The small island is called Tulas Island
This place is so hidden because it is located behind the former mining land. So, this hill is not visible from the road and this hill is still rarely known by others.
Tents should be in a strategic position.
When the scenery and coffee becomes the best moment
Besides the view, there are also beaches that have not been known. From where we camp, to the beach takes 10 minutes to get there. Important things ! If you want to go to the beach, pay attention to the things you left in the tent.
Our tent is on the hill.
That one is called Pusuk Buhit

This place is free of charge. Because it's free, you should ask the local people for permission, they are very friendly. Preferably camp here during summer season (Mei - August).
Conclution :
- It's FREE :D
- This place called Gonting Hill, located not far from the town of Pangururan, Samosir.
