Welcome to My Hometown, Lingayen, Pangasinan (A Short Tour)

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

A lot may not be a familiar, and if asked about Pangasinan, they may respond Dagupan because it is the main city in the province. However, the capital town of Pangasinan is Lingayen. It is exactly located at the center of the northern shoreline of Pangasinan.

Lingayen is my hometown, where I was raised currently living in. Now, let me take you for a tour in my small but lovely town.

image
Let's first visit the Lingayen Town Plaza. It's not that huge but decent enough to spend some time, and a place to meet up with friends.

image
In the park, you can see this huge pot which is a symbol for bagoong (fish paste), a popular condiment which was made of salt and fish being fermented. Bagoong is one of the main products in our town.

Now, let's go to the Maramba Boulevard Park. The park is in the center of two roads, the left one is heading south, while the right heads to the north. The park was named after one of the heroes of Pangasinan, and eventually a known Senator of the Philippines, Daniel Maramba, who was the one in the statue.

The park is about one-kilometer long which was covered with lush green trees. A kilometer walk in this park is worth it.

image
The river in the middle of the park. Its walls was finally concreted, good enough as it connects to the other road.

image
The Annex of The President's Hotel. The main buildings are located nearby.

image
Finally, we reached the Capitol Grounds. It is a park in Capitol Compound. It is a great place where you can spend some time at the benches nearby.

Taken from the northern side. You can have a tour inside the Capitol building.

The Provincial Capitol Building. It was built during American era.

While at the rooftop, took this picture of the Urduja House, the residence of the Governor of Pangasinan.

Let's go to the Veterans Memorial Park. Here you can find those memorabilias from World War 2

An old amphibian tank used during World War 2, considering Lingayen Gulf, located nearby, is where General Douglas MacArthur has landed.

Time go to the beach and Lingayen Baywalk nearby. There you can see coconut trees, and cottages which are free for use for all tourists and visitors.

image
This is the road to the Baywalk. People flock the place particularly in the late afternoon to have some fresh air and have a breather.

A wide green grassy area where you can have a picnic with a blanket set, and where kids can run and play.

image
We are now at the Lingayen Baywalk! Here lies this life-sized I 💙 PANGASINAN characters where you can have a picture with.

image
This is the Lingayen Baywalk which stretches in several kilometers from the coasts of Lingayen and Binmaley, while its connection to Dagupan City is under construction.

image
It's summertime, and people flocks the beach. By the way, the sands of the beach are gray, and don't expect white powdery sand.

image
Lingayen Gulf is a good source of income for fishermen. You can see those boats in this photo. But what may have caught your attention is the two little cottages.

image
It's good to swim at the beach, but you should the warning which you can read from the signs in the area. If you don't want to swim, it is safe and perfect to wade on the waters.

image
Now, it's getting dark as the sun is about to set. A perfect area to take a picture of the sunset.

Now, the tour ends here and hope you liked this mini-tour in my beautiful town, Lingayen.

Photos are my collections captured through Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Alcatel Pop C9 phones.
