[Travel Blog] My first destination was this graveyard from "The Battle of Kings Mountain" in October of 1780. [Aspenvale Cemetery][Wayyy too many photos!]
War Casualties -
I had no idea what this place was until I got there. That's how most of this trip has went so far. I'm just finding places on the map, or seeing something interesting as I pass by. This place was kinda hard to find, it was nestled back on a hillside which seemed to be on private property. When I got there, an old man was tending the place, and was very welcoming. After photographing and checking everything out, I brought my lunch out to a field behind the graveyard and laid in the grass for awhile before heading out to my next destination.
There were more graves in the woods back behind the cemetery.
This poor guy was the first one to die during the battle.

Nice pictures intresting place to vist. Was the actual battle there on grounds were the graveyard is ?
Thanks! Yeah, I enjoyed this little gem. I'm pretty sure that the battle did happen in the big fields you see surrounding it in the photos.
