China Airlines Business Class Experience (Part One)

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

This is part one of the China Airlines Business Class experience on my flight from Taipei to Amsterdam.

I redeemed 60,000 Delta Airline SkyMile points + tax for Business Class with the SkyTeam partner airline, China Airlines, a Taiwanese based airline. For a 14 hour flight, I thought this redemption was quite reasonable, as the Business Class flight one-way cost could usually be $3,000 to $4,000 for a flight of this length.

The only reason why the flight was longer than normal is because China Airlines chooses not to fly through Mainland China, instead routing themselves through South Korea/Japan, through Russia, and onwards over Scandinavia towards Amsterdam.

Even before boarding the flight, Business Class tickets get eligibility to the China Airlines lounge. The lounge itself is relatively brand new ... lots of mood lighting to give it a calm, evening feel.

The lounge serves full service buffet and custom noodle soup and dishes that they prepare for you.

Overall, quite spacious and large lounge with many different types of seating. There are large family style tables, smaller dining tables, as well as sofa/couch seating areas.

In the next post, I'll lightly go over the actual Business Class cabin with China Airlines.
