Golden Hour Photography/ Langebaan In A Nutshell
Howzit Howzit! I always love visiting the small towns in Western Cape, near Cape Town. In my opinion, they help me get a broader view of the South African (especially Afrikaans) culture, architecture and food. Besides, some of these towns are close to the valleys that offer the best wines in the country and possibly in the world!
The photo was taken with Samsung A5
A couple of weeks ago, I was in the coastal town of Langebaan with a friend. Langebaan is on West Coast, 120 km to the north of Cape Town.
As depressing as it looks, it becomes the ultimate holiday resort in summer.
A few bullet points from Langebaan:
- The lagoon surrounded by the town makes it suitable for water sports in summer.
- The casino called Club Mykonos is one of the many venues that contribute to its night life.
- The largest oyster shell fossils in the world were found here.
- To eat: White Hot Chocolate at Driftwood, Fish&Chips at Kokomo Beach Restaurant, for 100 R, I had the largest portion I ever had in my life. So large that I had half of it as take away food for the next day.
- Did you know: The first European to set foot in Langebaan was the Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama, who was the first European to reach India by the sea.
Have you visited the towns in Western Cape? Which one did you like the most? Drop me a comment below.

STOPBakoven for me is a place packed with childhood memories of the best kind, only managed to get my own children there once. The region is beautiful, however now expensive @haritakurdu
Hmm I don't know where Bakoven is, you don't mean the Bakoven Beach do you? But I do agree that it can be a bit expensive
We went to the cottages run by the MOTH (Members of the Tin Hat - second world war) community, in between Camps Bay and Llandudno. On the bus route from Cape Town station (we never owned a car when I was young), we walked into Camps Bay to do shopping, now it is as expensive as hell in that region.
I want your meal so bad!!! 😍😭
I'd eat it one shot to be honest😏
Have a beautiful and safe travel in Cape Town!!! (if you are on a visit😉)
Thanks! I guess I wanted the joy to be prolonged :D
I study master's here :)
I went all the way to Cederberg region and rooibos farms.
I haven't been to Cederberg yet, planning on visiting soon :)
Hey my neck of the woods. Actually Caryn (Owner at Kokomo) is a friend.....glad you enjoyed your visit there.
I absolutely loved the food there! Thanks for stopping by :)
