Our Journey to Koh Kradan Island - Day 2 of 5 : Bangkok to Trang.

in #travel7 years ago

Heading towards Trang in the South part of Thailand by rail we had all surprisingly enough waken up out of our sleeper capsules all fresh and rejuvenated as if we had been in a makeover capsule quite a smooth sleep actually better then i had expected. The morning was beautiful and we could smell the fresh air from the mountains. Morning markets were all set up along the railway line with nice flavoring odors seeping into the train cabin as we were slowly passing by which all of a sudden made us all hungry.

Early Morning Fresh Air From The Mountains Made It Very Pleasant to be Traveling on a open Carriage Train.

We were making a stop for some refreshment and buy some food from vendors that would approach you from the train platform this was another advantage of not traveling in a bullet train you get to interact with people on the outside and get to buy some yummy foods without having to get out of the train very convenient indeed.

At this point it was about 7 am in the morning we had already been commuting for 12 hours and were about 4 hours away from Trang Station. It had been a great night a good sleep but we were looking forward to ending this part of the journey and moving on to the sea waters across the Andaman Sea. Making our way through the mountain ranges having a snack and a chat, suddenly realized we were pulling up again i thought or no not another stop stuck my head out the window and saw the sign Trang Station damn that 4 hours when mighty fast we were finally at Trang and must say it was a funny enjoyable and very eye opening experience to have done it this way you certainly get to see a lot more of the country side and how people really live their lives along the railway line.

Arriving at Trang Station we had just over a hour to wait for a Mini-Van driver to pick us up and take us to the pier on the South Coast line to the Andaman Sea so their we could board our boat which would take us across to the islands. This was going to be about a 2 hour journey to the coast line. We were all feeling hungry and actually looking to find a nice breakfast/coffee shop and there it was right across the road from the station.

The Sri-Trang Hotel and Cafe...!!

It turned out to be quite a good choice the breakfast was superb and the cafe shop was actually quite trendy and awesome looking even had a great supply of alcohol .... in a coffee shop...well that's amazing Thailand, expect the un-expected but we thought we give that a miss for now.

They even had a detailed area map painted on there wall showing you where we were going to be heading pretty neat. Koh Mook was going to be our first island stop spent the night there then a tail-boat ride over to Koh Kradan.

After a healthy huge breakfast with a splendid mug of coffee all charged up with proteins and caffeine we were set to go the staff had informed us that our Mini - Van was waiting outside to take us to the next leg of our journey. Stepping outside in front of us was this midget van and we all looked at our self's in a confusion ..... no this can't be....???
