La Pepica. The favorite restaurant of Hemingway.

 I often go to Valencia for work. I love Spain and especially this city. Clean, cozy, and, importantly, it is not a lot of tourists even in the summer season. Especially pleased come in Valencia in early February, when in Moscow frosts, and there the sun shining and warmly. About the sights of the city I will tell you in the following publications, and now I want about food. About the great Spanish cuisine. And there's no way to do without paella. And not the classic Valenciana with rabbit and chicken, and paella marinara.
If you are in Valencia, you just have to visit THIS restaurant. Believe me, I will tell you about the pearl among the Valencian restaurants.

 The restaurant is located on the beachfront of the city beach, which stretches from the port a few kilometers North along the coast. The restaurant began its history in 1898 and since then has become one of the main gastronomic attractions not only in Valencia but in the whole region. Of course the main dish of the restaurant is paella. It here serves several, and served in the classic a huge pan with a big iron spoon. The spoon happened to me embarrassment during my first visit, but more on that later.

 I love the paella with seafood. My God, in addition to the fantastically delicious rice cooked on fish broth and two kinds of shrimps, there are also FOUR kinds of fish in paella!!! It's so delicious, and a glass of white wine. By the way, now La Pepica as house wine offers a wonderful eponymous bottled white wine with unsurpassed fruity aroma and just for some 15 euros per bottle. As for the paella, it costs 14 euros per person.

 This restaurant is loved by many celebrities. In different years here there have been members of the English Royal family and the king of Spain, and Pele himself. And Ernest Hemingway was just a regular at this place.

 Let's go back to that spoon. This big spoon serves not only to put paella on the plates, but also to make SURE suscribete and eat cracklings out of the pan. Give the frying pan with the remains here is considered bad manners. I didn't know that. You should have seen the face of the waiter. I thought he was gonna put that frying pan on my head. By the way, the waiters are not the most friendly, but it can be understood and forgiven. There is always a full house, even in the afternoon without an appointment to get almost impossible. Poor waiters run around the hall for hours on end. So be sure to book a table in advance.

So cool to have another Valencia fan here .... it's a great restaurant ... the Paella is ok .. BUT VERY VERY SALTY! If you like I can share with you our favorite Paella restaurant. But it's in the mountains, you would need a car.
