That cabin? My writing creativity is already churning ideas about it. Could it have been a trapper's place a century ago? Maybe a frontier family who traveled west?

Don't you just really want to tell that story? The place is just so compelling standing there completely abandoned. Where did he get those timbers? The nearest trees are clear up on the rim, and that is a serious long way.
