The RNLI is the largest charity that has a presence the beaches of the UK, the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man as well as on some inland waterways.

Founded in 1824 as the National Institution for the Preservation of Life from Shipwreck, the RNLI w is a charity which is mainly funded by legacies and donations. Most lifeboat crew members are unpaid volunteers but undergo extensive training.

The RNLI has 237 lifeboat stations, operates 444 lifeboats and has lifeguards on more than 200 beaches in the summer.

Crews rescued on average 22 people a day in 2015 and has saved more than 140,000 lives since its foundation, at a cost of more than 600 lives lost in service.

Cafe Internet Update: Yesterday I tried out the 'Flour Pot Bakery'again as a place to "work".

In it's favour, it is the closest cafe to me and the internet seems to be very good. However, despite having tasty looking food and cakes it is VERY expensive so I won't be coming here too often. 😊
