Prom Bench Plays Hide and Seek

When the Beach Jumped Onto the Promenade

After one particularly stormy night, Brighton and Hove woke up to this!

Most of the pebbles had been thrown from the beach onto the promenade almost burying the benches. They were more that 1 foot deep in places reaching up as far as the bench seats.

Whilst we are used to pebbles being thrown up overnight this was the most extreme I had ever seen it, in the more than 20 years I've lived here.

The only way to return them to their original place was to bring in bull dozers and lots of men with shovels! 😊

Wow! Gillian, what is it? It's a storm? A lot of stones is a lot of weight. How did this happen? Now it really takes a lot of effort to get everything back.

Yes it was a winter storm that coincided with a very high tide @madlenfox. The council took a couple of weeks to clear all the pebbles back to the beach and then there was another storm which threw up a load more. 😁 Nowhere near as many as in this photograph though.

ha ha, storm ping pong. but to be honest, it also brings garbage :(

Impressive!. I've seen many times the effects of the sea coming too deep onto the coast, I lived in Castellón for three years and it was very common to see the promenade broken and flooded buildings alongside. But this is an amazing pebbles festival on a promenade.
When zooming I saw the bird on the fence quite shocked :P but I've also seen some shells and other stuff that would perfectly be valuable to work with.
How powerful mother nature can be!

Thank you for sharing this view Gillian, have a nice Sunday :)

Yes at @drakernoise. It was fun looking for treasure amongst the pebbles. A lot of it was plastic trash sadly but I did find a one pound coin. It most have fallen out of someone's pocket earlier in the summer and got lost in amongst the pebbles, only to be washed up again in the storm! 😊

Ah nice!, so now you'r money laundering 🤣

Did I not tell you that was a hobby of mine @drakernoise! 😂

Comfortable place to relax, but fears when there are waves up to gravel.

It certainly wasn't comfortable on that day @dayatsiaulia! 😂 Thank you for stopping by! 😊

Mother nature can do some pretty crazy things!

Yeah she can @calliyork and this one was particularly dramatic! 😊

Thanks for stopping by.

Nice bench, green color fits well to nature around.
