Top Food / Dishes to Try When You Visit the Philippines - Part 1

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

As a traveler, one thing that a traveler must not ever forget is to try the local delicacies and foods of the places that you have traveled. A trip is not complete if you will not do the following: visit the famous landmarks/spots, eat the local food and specially befriending the locals.

A lot of my foreigner friends always consult and ask me if what are the best places to visit the Philippines, the famous tourist spots, the budget friendly hotel and most of all, the food that they should taste. Hence, I want to share in this blog the recommended dishes or foods that a traveler must try when he/she visits the Philippines.

However, as a disclaimer, these recommended dishes are only general recipes/delicacies of the Philippines. As you all know, the Philippines is composed of 7,107 islands and several dozens of regions, hence, each place has a distinct and diverse food to offer. One should do her/his own research first before visiting the place.

Below are the Top 5 Filipino Dishes that a traveler must try:

1. Adobo

2.Dinuguan / Filipino Pork Blood Stew

3. Pansit Bihon

4. Kare-kare

5. Sinigang / Sour Pork Soup - Porridge

Take note that the above dishes are only some of the many dishes that the Philippines has to offer. If you will visit the Philippines soon, just message me and I will be willing to help you in case you have questions or wants recommendations.

Happy blogging fellow Steemates!

Good choices as top 5 :) one could easily make a top 20 list though hahahha. The lechon and lechon kawali ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks @shinidanitv. I want to include also the lechon but my spot is only limited to five. Haha. Maybe I should have made a top 10 list instead. :)

Hahaha...yea maybe top 10. But again, we think you made a great choice for the top 5 :)

Thank you for passionately sharing your experience. The only one, i haven't eaten cos i wont is dinuguan

Thanks @surpassinggoogle. I dont like Dinuguan too but I've tried them before. :)

What? No pakbet? Tanggal na lang bihon at ihelera sa meryenda ;)

I've included pakbet in my part 2 post @immarojas. You can never go wrong with pakbet! :)

With ampalaya dapat noh?

Pork blood stew? :o It looks great, but the sound doesn't seem too appealing :p

You heard that right @sjennon. Many foreigners also find this unappealing since the actual pork blood is used in making this recipe. However, some of them like it, others dont. :) I hope you try it someday and let me know your verdict.

Though I myself am not vegan, what dishes would you suggest for those who are and comtemplating visiting the Philippines? And, thanks for the post.

I recommend the dishes documented in this post. Also, I've made another top 5 list in a separate post as a continuation. Check it out! https://steemit.com/travel/@georgetan93/top-food-dishes-to-try-when-you-visit-the-philippines-part-2

Looks very tasty)

Looks delicious but I don't dare to try them all... As a Muslim we must choose halal food... So my choice will be limited... But thanks sharing anyway...
