in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Hello, my fellow steemians~

It's another travel time with me. In this Europe series of travel, I am bringing you all with me to an unforgettable travel journey to Málaga which located in the South of Spain. The unbeatable beauty deserves more attention than ever, this magical place offers more than just the rich histories but also the wide array experiences for you to discover and make your travel story an interesting one.

The undeniable beauty of Málaga should be on your next trip!

I bet you've heard of a million of travels story to Barcelona, Madrid, Majorca, etc. But, Málaga has vastly forgotten by the public due to the underrated publications, and travel marketing. Before we dive right into my travel story, I would like to give you a head start on why I think Málaga is the best place you'll rather be.

Being on the Southern coast of Spain, Málaga is well-known for its hospitality and the warm and soft sand beaches. Málaga port is being recorded to be the oldest operating port in all of Spain and the Mediterranean. Due to the rise of tourism demands, cruise ships have been docking at the coast and everyone are blessed with fresh seafood due to the continuing operations of fisherman's vessel at the port.

Besides the iconic port, Málaga is also famous for the rich ancient historic sites like the "La Manquita Cathedral", "Alcazaba de Málaga (Old Moorish Castle)", "Castillo de Gibralfaro", the recognizable "Mercado de Atarazanas", and etc.

With no delays, let's board on to the time machine to Málaga with me~

IMG_0098.JPG

Malaga's airport is not the best in terms of space and the physical appearance but it's well equipped with all the facilities you could ever imagine for an airport. Well, not everything is all about appearance but the quality right if you agree with me.

Since we already made our car rental done ahead, the only thing we needed to do was to collect the car. Lucky enough the airport wasn't too big to navigate, we found our car rental swiftly. Also, as lucky as we are, we even got an upgrade from an A series BMW to Audi A7 with half of the amount we paid. What a great start~

A very warm welcome to our temporary family member which I named it Audi Buddy.

But well, everything for free pays a price and soon we had a shock of our life while we attempt to go on an underground parking at our rented Airbnb. If you ever been to Spain, you should know the driving space there is no bigger than a truck. Driving a huge car was a pain in the ass without being super careful and skillful, especially when we are speaking about parking. It's harder than finding a treasure on the treasure map. After a full 30 minutes struggle on the slope, we somehow manage to bring it down with no harm at all. All hail to our expert driving skill. Haha

After a stressful moment, we started our city exploring activity. As lucky as we were, I couldn't believe we even found the best gelato in the town which I highly recommend for whoever that is planning to go on a trip in the future.

IMG_0135.JPG

"Casa Mira" is one of the top renowned gelato shops that serve the smoothest ice in a traditional metal tin of how it should be. I am a very picky ice cream eater due to my family background. I knew most everything about ice-cream and I have to admit that they did a fantastic job not only to fulfill the quality assurance but way over my expectations of how a gelato should be.

IMG_0133.JPG

I absolutely adore the moment of being surprised when the metal cap is opened one by one upon order. It is as if unfolding a pot of gold, discovering a pot of different jewels hidden underneath. Surprise, surprise~

Since we arrived late in the evening, we decided to be spontaneous for rest of the day and wander around the town. To see and explore the closest town that we are staying. With just a short distance, we arrived at the place of the local's said to be the old town of Málaga and also the favorite spot for all tourist and also the locals.

Well, why not let the photos do the justice of why it has been a favorite for everyone?

IMG_0139.JPG

A public interacting spot for all to relax and chill during the evening while enjoying the free arts displayed. As busy as the place could be, you'll still find peace occasionally. Watching laughter's and the smile on one's faces, realizing how simple life could be. Without technology, just you and people from all walks of life.

IMG_0190.JPG

Admiring the vibrant city with the perfect shines of the sunset on the perfectly constructed ancient buildings. Filled with waves of laughter and voices that will definitely brighten your day. Also, it is the perfect spot for you to take a break from the shopping district. Having a drink, to energize yourself!

IMG_0493.JPG

If you're a shopper, this is a perfect spot for you. From clothing, cosmetics to daily supplies are all gathered here in this shades alley. Make sure you have your pocket filled because Spain offers some quality and vibrant clothing and cosmetics that could easily make you irresistible to venture into the shop and break a hole in your wallet.

As time pass by quickly, it's already dinner time. Since it's our first day here in Spain, we have no idea what to order and where to go. Again, to our surprise, we are once again being lucky of the restaurant we choose. It's one of the best tapas we ever had in Spain!

These are what we ordered,

IMG_0154.JPG

Fresh bluefin tuna tartare served with homemade biscuits. This tartare is served with freshly chopped sweet pears to give it a natural sweetness and crunch, with house-made caviar sauce with avocado. The creamy avocado and the soft and silky tuna form a perfect combination. The flavor was absolutely stunning, leaving your taste bud an explosion of unforgettable flavor.

It is not Spain if you have tried none of the "Iberico Ham" there. The signature Iberico ham with sweet honey melon is a perfect pair of sweet and salty tapas that has ever created. The deep and dark flavor of the ham paired with fresh melon was beyond unique! Also, the artichoke topped with house-made sweet and savory sauce just left me speechless of how simple yet good it was. As mushy as an artichoke could be, it however addicting. The plate of artichoke runs out quickly that we had to order more to replenish it.

Conclusion

The first day in Málaga has been great. Not to mention, the people are the friendliest and extremely welcoming. The first day here, I am already falling in love with it and I made myself a promise to be returning to this wonderland.

Until the next time my fellow explorers~

Thanks for sharing this post @explorenations, hope you can travel to Mérida, Yucatán, México, you will feel something familiar in this beautiful city after visiting Spain and several southern cities down there! (Andalucía and Malaga share many things with Mérida, Yucatán, México.) keep traveling!

No need to thank me at all! I am extremely happy especially when someone reads and appreciates my travel articles and hopefully, benefits them in some way. I hope it happens to you too. Mexico is always on my travel list!! My boyfriend who is traveling with me had actually been there and he affirms that Mexico is such a lovely place with smiley faces everywhere and the food. Mama mia! Exquisite! :D Hope that I'll be able to make it next year and for sure I'll let you know what I think about it :)

See you around & keep in touch :D

My favorite kind of post; full of interesting pictures and an engaging story that takes me on the adventure with you. That food too....yum!

I believe the best way for all readers to experience is by explaining in a story. To let everyone have the chance to be part of the story and feel it themselves while reading. I am glad you enjoyed it and hopefully, inspired you to travel there too! And I promise you that you'll never regret~ Keep in touch :))

I might not, traveling to much makes me Ill these days and it is hard to enjoy it; but reading well written tales about others adventures fills the void and helps inspire my own stories.

Spain is one of the places that I wanted to visit someday, particularly Barcelona. In God's will I will be able to! Thank you for showing us its beauty

Sure do, no problem at all. I believe besides Barcelona, there are many more places that you can discover in Spain. They are all equally good but just haven't been discovered by many. Thanks for dropping by :) Keep in touch
