Weekend Trip: Trekking, Good Food, and Peace at The LOREN Farm House

in #travel8 years ago

About 60 kilometers away from my city, there is a place called Karkala, which is still covered with greenery, forests, streams, lakes, and everything that you wouldn't find in a city. Away from the traffic, noise, and pollution, this place makes for a perfect weekend getaway.

My friend has a family Farm house and an estate in the region. So, when he came down to visit, we decided to spend a weekend at the LOREN farm house. And what a treat it was!

And in we went

Now, that's a nice welcome

We reached the place around 10 AM on a Saturday, had an amazing lunch and immediately went out for a trek. The estate is covered with plantations and thick forest. You can find Leopards, Tigers, Wild Boars, several variety of snakes and birds, and a few humans as well. Luckily, we only came across the humans.

The farm house, located on a hill, is looked after by a family that lives there. They also have three very very friendly dogs, who I loved having around.

The Trek

We put on the gumboots, carried an air rifle and a golf stick, and started our trek in to the forest. Our destination was a stream, which was a few kilometers walk.

Greeted by a Spider, don't know what kind

There wasn't much of a path to follow, but we knew the general direction to go. So, we followed my friend. We didn't really go very deep in to the forest, because that's dangerous, and it was already past 4 PM.

So much greenery

Found this lizard on the way, just chilling, posing for the photo

After a 20 minute walk, we were close to our destination. We had to cross a few small streams, and climb some rocks to get there.

Stopped to take some pictures of this frog

Finally, we made it to the rocks.

And there it is! Usually, we'd be able to cross this stream to get to the other side. However, the current was strong and it was getting late. So we decided not to.

We relaxed at the rocks for about half hour, shot some pellets in to the air, just to feel the rebound on the gun, and headed back.

It was a nice relaxing evening, and things only got better. After we got back to the house, we had some rest and talked about life.

At night, we had an amazing dinner once again, had a few drinks, listened to some good music and went to sleep early.

During summer, you can see the entire galaxy from the roof. Unfortunately, this was monsoon, and it was cloudy with no chance of meatballs.

We woke up early to try and see the sunrise, but the sun was being very shy. Here's what we saw, still, pretty beautiful right?

So yeah, a pretty good relaxing weekend at the Loren Farm. I will be going here again during the summer, just to have a look at the night sky.

All the photos were taken with my iPhone 6s, except the first one, which was taken using my friends DSLR.
