The Kaleidescope of Colors that IS South Myrtle Beach

In yesterday's post I concentrated on the 'beach' part of Myrtle- since that is generally the central focus of why people would choose to come here- but it is only one part of what makes this place such a tourist attraction.

Drinking alcohol with an ocean view is certainly another.

That dude, whom I don't know, personifies the energy of this place, everyone so thrilled to be here they'll dance and pose for strangers

But I'm convinced that the vibrant, happy colors of just about every business here is another secret to Myrtle's success.

It almost seems they're catering to children with the rainbow of material goods, and it definitely does appeal to a little one's eye-

-my daughter clearly remembers being eight years old and running into a dozen different stores just like this one-

But it's more than that, it somehow appeals to the inner child of everyone no matter their age, a brilliant marketing scheme that has captured the attention and imagination of millions.

And the south end is definitely the crescendo of this business model-

It was my intention to at least stop by Broadway on the Beach, a boardwalk of restaurants, shops, and bars, but our time ran short as we got sucked in the vortex of this candy land-

-I mean come on, is this not the fulfillment of every kid's dream?

We will be back in June, back to Summerville and Charleston, and back to Myrtle Beach,

as it holds a special place in Mama Dreemit's heart, from all the years she spent there with Papa Dreemit.

At which time I will be sure to take you on the Boardwalk,

and to the best seafood restaurant in this country (a gourmet buffet of spectacular proportions)

but if anything beyond the beach embodies the pure delight of this touristy destination,

it is definitely this store.

People who follow my blog know that I'm an outdoorsy chic, far preferring the natural beauty of this world than anything man has ever conceived of,

but every once in awhile I stumble on consumerism that is irresistible- I mean look at this! If Earth is a virtual reality game (a current thought that I play with), then where ever it is we actually hail from had places like this in the game trailer, I'm sure of it....

...and I'm beginning to think that one of the bigger purposes(objectives) of my life(role here) is to experience everything this game has to offer- and more importantly to document it.
