Perhaps More Important Changes and Positive Tweaks other than Being able to Change the Cover Photo? (Back to Reality Edition)
Steemit is in beta, oh we’ve all heard it! It has become a mediocre response nowadays aside from,
- write quality content
- stay for the community
- don’t care about the money
- leave if you like
- go back to Facebook
- you want to be rich quickly
Wake up people. This snarky attitude is the reason some people are closed-minded and blinded in real life, as they stay delusional while ignoring the reality in this world. Slaves of the same system, controlled by fear... Watching from a distance and not doing anything to be the change.
The 3rd one has become increasingly annoying especially if you see a shitpost making a lot of money. Inevitable feeling! And the typical response when you are back on the other side again, go to 1.
It’s a loop.
I was once innocent and sweet, then steemit happened.
My answer to #4 - we have our wealth here too, cannot be erased more.
Some other improvements are needed for the future of steemit, especially with its high ambition of beating Facebook, Youtube and other social media platforms. Billions of people are still there, which is quite interesting, huh.
The day I found out that I could change the cover photo, I was like, great. That I couldn’t care less about it for now.
Some other important changes maybe?
Followers' list improvement - @bucho’s post about that here. It is such a pain scrolling through my followers' list to see if someone unfollowed me, so I could unfollow that person back, ha! And to unfollow those who just quit forever, for the obvious reasons. Why not improve this follower search? I understand there are some other third-party apps being made to somehow ease the pain of using the platform. But where’s all the money going? Hmmmm.
Archive and tags on personal feed - this would be good news to those of us who remained positive and stayed for the love of writing. Music to your ears? We need some ease of use at least, like being able to search posts easily. What happens next year and steemit is still in beta, dig into all the posts so we could look for a particular article?
Hide the $ sign - we'll all just pretend we are not affected, knowing humans are. It looks evil as it does not justify the value of an art and creative writing, so maybe just hide it? That is if they really want to keep steemit as a platform for people who stayed for the community because at this moment, it is pretty obvious that it is a money-making website. Just look at the UI alone. Are we all in denial here? Maybe just hide it and keep the money for your eyes only. Some people don’t need to know your salary.
Custom view - It is nice if I would just be able to customize the view of my feed, like be able to exclude the resteemers, some members posts, some posts, etc.. It’s a basic feature but more important than the cover photo or design.
Reputation score as a factor to upvote and push posts - I was just thinking that maybe use the reputation score as a factor to push a good post up and get it out of the abyss. Lately, though, I found out that anyone can just increase their reputation score by just pretending he traveled, putting a bunch of photos from the web and tagging the popular guys below the post so that person can attract big upvotes. Guess what, that person has probably been doing that for a year, thus, increased reputation score + $$$. I thought the reputation score means that the author writes quality content, but it is also becoming a myth now.
A way to get the good content out of the abyss - something very important as it is a struggle for the new authors who simply want to find the right readers, or find some like-minded individuals, not only because they wanted to be upvoted - again music to your ears? There must be a way where good content will prevail, and be easily searched.
Fight the spam - The neverending war against spam, the spammers are actually getting more monetary rewards than us. But of course, we just ignore, reply or downvote and hope that someday, it will change as steemit it still in beta.
Don't they feel embarrassed, that the new users and talented authors who come here, with high hopes and believed 100% in the platform find out the reality is this? Aside from of course, the other dirtier things happening out there....
Oh well, let's just smile and write away...perhaps enjoy everything while it lasts?
I made a mistake with the travel tag! Ugh, include not being able to change the first tag on the list!
Before following me, please check my previous posts. I usually write about my travels or whatever my distorted mind has to offer. If you follow me and you're not really interested with that, then you'll only be disappointed! Unfollow @diabolika
Yes, the picture remind us where we were & now what we are. Ancient times to present modern world & the reality of Steemit. Thanks @diabolika
Thanks, anyway, keep writing! :)
Truth streemed right to the blockchain. Awesome as always.
This is remarkable work.
Thank you as always! These are the right answers. :)
This is world-class material.
This is top-notch!
Congratulations! This post has been upvoted from the communal account, @minnowsupport, by diabolika from the Minnow Support Project. It's a completely public and open space to all members of the Steemit community who voluntarily choose to be there.
meep
I write a post about living out of a van wearing a cheese hat and I get a spam of "follow me"! Where is the sass?
It's something you just have to ignore, downvote/let the others downvote or reply to lol, for fun. Steemit ways... sigh
Interesting read! I actually posted an article today asking about what users would like to improve to Steemit when it comes to the UI :)
This is definitely useful!
Thanks, I read the article. I hope we'll see some more important improvements soon!
I hope so too! Thanks for reading ^^
Steemit still has a long way to go. It will never be a replacement for facebook though, it is a whole different structure. If u haven't heard of it yet, check out peerity.io This looks like something that might be very similar to FB.
I know. Steemit is still looking old-school. But maybe they should change something on the feature and not just the design.
Thanks, I will have a look.
I've wanted many things from that list, especially a more organized feed. Sigh... hopefully it'll change someday soon or I'll just implement it myself haha.
I hear you.
This would be so good!
