✨The LEGEND about GOLDEN BUFFALO EMERGING from WEST LAKE / Hangzhou, China

Last week was a very productive sightseeings visiting. We went twice to Hefang Street, tea plantations and of course our most famous oneandonly West Lake.

West Lake has many beautiful spots, no matter which side you are walking on, but I must say my favorite spot there is the one that is on Nan Shan street.

There is a statue of a Golden Buffalo that is placed right inside West Lake and it’s simply beautiful!I would even say stunning!Take a look guys:

THE LEGEND

West Lake has been known as Golden Buffalo Lake since ancient time.

Legend goes that in the Han dynasty (206BC-220AD) there was a golden buffalo laying at the bottom of the lake.Whenever the lake dried up, the buffalo would emerge out and spew water until it becomes full again.In order to win emperor’s favor, local officials asked their people to drain the lake by waterwheel.When the lake got try the buffalo turned up as expected and the officials all rushed to catch it.To their surprise, the buffalo raised its head and bellowed with anger producing water, which drowned them all in no time.Since then, West Lake has never gone dry, not the buffalo appeared again.

I love all the legends out there, it’s always so fascinating to know about different places through legends and it’s even more fun to tell them to people who visit you😁
