Travel Tip: Prague Zoo, one of the top rated zoos in the world and a Prague must-see

Dear Steemit friends and followers,

Welcome to my Travel Tip edition where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.

As you have probably noticed, I promote Prague, the capital city of my country, almost every day through the Prague/Czech Republic Photo Challenge and some other posts too but among all those renowned landmarks such as the Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge or the Old Town Square, there is one place in Prague that has not been given the attention it deserves yet – the Prague Zoo.

So let me set it right and dedicate my today´s post to this facility.

Located in the Troja District in the northern part of the city, the Prague Zoo was opened in 1931 with the intention of studying zoology, protecting wildlife and education the public. Occupying a total area of 140 acres, the zoo is currently home to more than 700 animal species.

Praised for contribution to saving some of the most endangered species (most notably the Przewalski Horse), the Prague Zoo has a reputation of being one of the most beautiful, well-organized and dedicated zoos in the world. It regularly ranks among the very top zoos in charts made by renowned websites such as Tripadvisor, Travel and Leisure, Forbes etc.

Open every day all year round, the Prague Zoo also offers a range of activities and additional services. You can take your kids to the Children Zoo where they can interact with some animals or hop on the chair-lift. There are also many educative trails, exhibition galleries, interactive presentations, sightseeing paths etc. If you get hungry while exploring the zoo, you can choose from a variety of meals in one of local restaurants.
