Potosí, Bolivia was built at the foot of the Cerro Rico ("Rich Mountain") in 1545, a mountain of silver that dominates the city. For nearly 60 years, Europe will benefit from this precious metal that the Spanish exploited. Unfortunately, the silver was extracted by the forced labor of the Indians and thousands of them died of respiratory problems due to dust in the mines or blocked in them after landslides.
In this picture, we see the Church of San Lorenzo, in the Plaza de Armas, just next to La Casa de la Moneda, where the Potosí money was made. A must do visit!

My view from the hotel balcony at Atlantis on the Palm in Dubai, was the perfect spot to watch the sun set behind our building as we relaxed after a long flight from Africa. After 3 weeks of camping through Africa the Atlantis had the most comfortable bed ever haha.

This is the stunning sunset at Whisky Bay, a peaceful stretch of sheltered beach inside Wilsons Promontory National Park in Victoria, Australia. After we drove to the car park in the heavy rain and walked through a moist gully and sand dunes, we arrived to this amazing secluded beach when the sun came out and started to set.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - North American Friday week #75 - winner announcement!

@gunnarheilmann North American Friday entry:

This is a lucky shot one gets rarely. Last year i was at the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in California photographing at night. Then take a 4000 years old tree, 3 Shooting Stars (the third one is hard to see in low res) and a plane add the Milky Way and wait for this to happend it in front of you in the same minute you sit there. I got lucky and managed to get it in one single long exposure Light Painting. Starting off with a first 2minute of the exposure at F22 ISO 3200 lighting up the Metusalem, then when I was finished with that I gave the Milky Way another 30 seconds to develop, changing the settings of the lens to F2.8. Then we saw 3 shooting stars in the sky plus that air plane. What a surprise! What makes that picture so special is that there was no layers needed in post-production. Just the way I like it, No Photoshop needed.

Boats on Rio Paraguay

In the north of Paraguay, I was lucky to be invited to stay in an Indigenous community for a few days. Most of the local are fishermen and rowing out on the river on these boats; I will never forget the amazing fish barbecues they prepared!

This photograph is of the "Caribe" beach on the Island of Margarita - Venezuela. It is not only surrounded by sand and sea, but also has some giant rocks, where more than one is launched to submerge in the sea.

San Juan River Sucre state. Venezuela
This river is in the city where I was born, whose name is the same, I lived there until my adolescence, it's a very big river. Recently I went to visit my brothers, and I can not resist the temptation to remember the good times, so I went for a walk on the river and took some pictures.

Pampatar Bay

Bahia de Pampatar, is one of the most valued locations on the island of Margarita Venezuela, not only because it is one of the oldest, but because of its historical value. In his adjacencies two works of great historical value are imposed that date from the Spanish colonial time; the impressive Castillo de San Carlos Borromeo, also known as Castillo de Pampatar and the famous Fortín de la Caranta. This photograph was taken from the height of the Castle.

Mansa Beach, is one of the favorite places for me, not only for the stillness of its waters, but for its beautiful sunsets. In Mansa Beach, many people come with their cameras to take pictures or to spend a relaxing time during the afternoon hours, or simply to share a time with friends. This beach is located in the town of Lecherias, in the Anzoátegui state, Venezuela.

Cityscape (Petare-Venezuela)

I captured this cityscape from the balcony of a friend's house. I was impressed with how these houses are built, some are attached and others two and even four floors, is one of the most dangerous in the capital of Venezuela.

The viewpoint above Azeda and Azedinha beaches, in Armação dos Búzios, Region of Lagos in the state of Rio de Janeiro - Brazil, is the best point of the city to watch the sunset. Búzios is a peninsula in the form of a dragon, a very quiet place, to spend the holidays enjoying wonderful beaches, boat trips, tasting delicious seafood, etc.

Spent a day transiting in Tucuman while in Argentina. We did not have anything specific to visit during our stay but came across this beautiful building that was celebrating its bicentenary. We noticed the Spanish origins looking at the tiles and architecture. Vestige of old days.
