7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - European Thursday week #41 - winner announcement!

@stabilowl European Thursday entry:

This is another photo of Civita di Bagnoregio, the dying city, or the Jewel on the Hill as described by Rick Steve. This place used to be a bustling town during the Medieval times, and apparently used to be much bigger. Unfortunately erosion and earthquake means that the hill started to shrink in size, buildings fell of the cliff and people started to move away. Nowadays it is mainly a tourist attraction. The permanent population at Civita is only about a 100 in summer and can drop to a mere 7 during winter.

There's just something special about the beaches in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I wish I had more information about this specific beach, but it's a fairly secluded beach within the Rio de Janeiro area. As you can see, some people know about it, but it wasn't nearly as crowded as the main beaches along the famed boardwalk.

Isla del Sol, Bolivia

Sourrounded by Titikaka Lake, the Isla del Sol is located at 4000m and home to many ancient Incan ruins. When I hiked on Isla del Sol for two days without putting on enough sunscreen, I got a horrible sunburn which reminded me of the "sun island" for months!

Yes! My city has spectacular landscapes.

This is a snowfall that was recently in the Sierra Nevada de Merida. It is the only place in Venezuela, where snow falls. For being more than 4500 meters above sea level. These snowfalls have been decreasing over the years, due to global pollution. This year has surprised by the amount of snowfall that goes and probably extend until the end of August.

Looks like the top of the world:)...stunning!

This photograph is of the Manzanillo Beach, located on the Isla de Margarita - Venezuela. It is a quiet beach, although sometimes the waves are strong, with soft sand and cold water, it is surrounded by mountains, as well as boats, since it is the place where many fishermen of the Island live.
