Standing at the peak of 1,379 meters in Nahuelbuta National Park in central Chile, I was stunned by this breathtaking view at sunset. The Monkey Puzzle trees are sacred to the Mapuche native American tribes. They date back up to 2,000 years, and can grow up to 40 meters high. To the west it's the immense Pacific Ocean, and to the east an impressive chain of Andean volcanoes.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - African Wednesday week #39 - winner announcement!

@dali-gis African Wednesday entry:

Sahrara Douz Tunisia. A visit to the Sahara Desert is an experience that everyone should have at least once in their life. It's a trip worth the effort, you'll have good memories to last forever. Imagine yourself at the top of a camel trekking in the Sahara Desert. There is nothing around you, and all you can hear are the tracks of the camel on the soft sand. The sky is vast and clear in the day and filled with millions of bright stars at night.

Photo taken at Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Near the fortress of Copacabana at one of the ends of the bay there is a place where local fishermen sell their catch and leave their boats. This photo was taken there, the frame in the picture is used to clean and dry the nets. I used as a composition element of the image in order to frame it. At the center of the image, there is the famous Sugar Loaf mountain. You can see the cable car station at the top of it.

I am definitely planning my trip to go out there at one point! Thank you for your entry. Tomas

This picture was taken at sunrise at a hot spring in Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve of Andean Fauna, Bolivia. It's heart (and body of course :D) warming to soak in a hot thermal bath in the freezing morning. And I was mesmerized by the shadows and the steam that were dancing in the first glow in the tranquil wildness.

That must be a great thing to do!

This was in Coqueza, Bolivia which sits right on the edge of the Salar de Uyuni. The volcano in the background is Tunupa Volcano. I was walking through a field of llamas and whenever I would get too close they would turn their backs to me so I was happy to get these two looking towards the camera.

Flamingos at Laguna Kara, Bolivia

The "volcano flamingos" enjoy the rough conditions of the Bolivian Altiplano that keep them safe from predators. Hundreds of them were gathering at Laguna Kara in front of the snow peaked Andean volcanoes.

LAGOON THE GREEN. MÉRIDA, VENEZUELA

The hidden secret of the mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Mérida. Its impressive color lives up to its name. All the places in the world that have mountains, will always find the surprise that each one has a name, and even a life of their own, none is equal to the other, and that is, mountaineering allows you to discover places and fantastic stories.

What a beautiful place that is. Truly wonderful.

Sun is out so time to check in on the Estancia

Gaucho heading out for the day.JPG

Everyone has to work, some of us sit at desks or work in factories or some of us work in the sun or snow outside. Here a Gaucho is heading out into the world on his horse to check on the state of the estancia (station or estate). Dogs following behind him, with some of the most beautiful mountains on Earth in the background. The Paine Towers or Torres Del Paine of Patagonia behind them. Shadows are low so have to keep moving to keep the cold away.

This is the view from Punta Ballena lighthouse, where you can see the Pampatar saline, on the island of Margarita, Venezuela. This is one of the most visited lighthouses by all tourists, since it has one of the best views on this side of the island.

Thank you so much for your participation. Have a great Sunday. Tomas

This image is from the Bay of Juangriego on the Isla de Margarita - Venezuela. Ideal place to observe the best sunsets, because every time the sun goes down, the landscapes are unique and the colors that reflect the sky are indescribable. This photo I love because the sky reflected the 3 colors that represent the flag of my country Venezuela.
