7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Asian Sunday week #24 – winner announcement!

@racheleecious Asian Sunday entry:

This was taken last year when we go to a trip in Albay, Philippines. This is the perfect coned shape volcano, the Mayon Volcano. I took this picture because of the perfect reflection of its image in the ricefield with water. This volcano explodes last January 2018. Mayon is the one of the many tourist destination here in the Philippines.

@akirachang Australian Monday entry:

I took this photo at Brisbane story bridge. It is a heritage-listed steel cantilever bridge connecting northern and southern Brisbane. At night, the bridge's purple lights lit up half of the Brisbane river into a deep purple colour. Conjunction with the building light beside, It makes a great contrast at night. A really unique scenery in Brisbane Australia.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans week #24 – winner announcement!

@dmytrokorol Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans entry:

Morning on Praia do Pinhao in Lagos, Portugal. I wasn't sure I need to get off the bed that rainy morning and drive 30 km to this beach, but I glad I did it. A thin line of clear sky appeared on the horizon just in time to show let the rising sun enlighten everything around.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – African Wednesday week #24 – winner announcement!

@fjorenca African Wednesday entry:

This picture was taken at sunset in the Erg Chebbi dunes of Morocco. Our caravan stopped to enjoy the color transformations of the desert. Even my camel seemed to be admiring the sunset. I asked our berber guide if he ever gets sick of this view. He said "The desert is my home; this is where I feel that I belong."

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – European Thursday week #24 – winner announcement!

@francismoure European Thursday entry:

This is a photo taken in Russia, specifically in the red square of Moscow, where it is shown to the Cathedral of St. Basil, at night it looks much more spectacular than in the day, this is a very famous cathedral, mostly because of its domes in the shape of a bulb, for us tourists. But without a doubt it is a very beautiful place.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – North American Friday week #24 – winner announcement!

@scottshots North American Friday entry:

Back in March 2016, I was incredibly lucky to shoot the famous Fly Geyser. It was tough for most photographers to shoot because it sat on protected private property in Nevada, USA near the town of Gerlach. A good friend of mine met the property owner by chance and we ended up with the elusive permission to photograph it. The property is now owned by Burning Man. Visiting the geyser is currently not allowed but it looks like they will be opening the area to visitors in the future. This is a 30 second shot, lit with a headlamp.

A view of Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia. This photo was taken from the hill of Monserrate, located at more than 3000 metes above sea level. Bogotá is a plateau at 2700 meters above sea level and it is densely populated, as it can be seen in the photo.

I am planning my trip there sometimes in Autumn! Thank you so much for your entry. Tomas

It is a nice place. I hope that you enjoy your trip there!

When I lived in Chile, I traveled through its fantastic long land. Compared to Patagonia in the south, the Atacama region in the north offers more otherworldly views. This is a picture I took there in the Moon Valley at sunset. It felt so surreal surrounded by the orange moon-like landscape, with the photogenic Licancabur Volcano in the distance.

Licancabur.jpg

Beautiful photo. The Licancabur is great!

Thanks! It’s got a nice shape right? You also have lots of beautiful photos from Atacama. :)

Yes, the perfect shape for a vulcano ;)

Just wonderful! Thanky you so much!

71 secs of long exposure at Machu Picchu. Late afternoon is in my opinion the best time to relax and spend some time enjoying the spectacular views of this ancient city. All morning tours are already gone and the place is much less busy with tourists running everywhere you look. Light is just amazing and brings out reach green color of the Machu Picchu "island" from between the mountains surrounding it. Perfect time to set your camera and lay in the grass next to it taking in the beauty around you.IMGP1409webs.jpg

I will take your word for it when there:)....

Organized trips to Machu are like a marathon, you speed visit everything with no time to really enjoy the place. Just be sure to buy train tickets in advance and book the latest one on the way back ;) And bring at least 2 water bottels and some food with you if you want to spend there whole day because if you buy it there, it's going to be the most expensive water in your life :)

View of the famous Pan de Azúcar hill with its cable car, next to the town of Botafogo and on the left side the Guanabara bay, all in the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro. The Pan de Azúcar hill is a spectacular monolithic granite peak, practically without vegetation, that rises directly on the sea as part of a peninsula that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean. Of the many hills that exist in the city, Cerro Pan de Azúcar is the only one with these characteristics, which gives it an incomparable charm and allows from its top, 396 meters high, privileged views of Rio de Janeiro and the Guanabara Bay.

Playa Caribe

canva-photo-editor (3).png

What a fitting name for this beach, a true paradise in the Caribbean...
Located on the island of Margarita-Venezuela, Playa Caribe is among the most visited beaches by tourists who arrive, and we know why, you arrive and observe this landscape of calm waters, surrounded by palm trees and mountains where you can enjoy all day and finish with this sunset.

What a stunning sunset! Thank you so much for your entry. Tomas

Thank you very much for appreciating the photo, very grateful for the support.

Vicuñas in the Atacama Desert
In the north of chile you can often see these wild relatives of the llama and alpaca wandering in the yellow grassland of the andean high plateau. I always enjoyed watching these nice animals in such a stunning landscape...

_DSC8970 Kopie-2.jpg

Those are popular in today´s contest:)....

Vicuña in Bolivia

Until recently, the vicuña was thought to not have been domesticated, as well as the llama and the alpaca were considered descendants of the closely related guanaco. But recent DNA studies have shown the alpaca may well have vicuña parentage. Today, the vicuña is largely wild, but the regional people still perform particular rituals with these animals, including a fertility rite.

The vicuña is considered more delicate and graceful than the guanaco and smaller. A key distinguishing element of morphology is the better-developed incisor roots to the guanaco. The vicuña's long, woolly coat is tawny brown on the back, whereas the hair on the throat and chest is white and quite long. The head is a bit shorter than the guanaco's and the ears are slightly longer. The length of mind and body ranges from 1.45 to 1.60 m (about 5 ft); shoulder height is from 75 to 85 cm (around 3 ft); its weight is from 35 to 65 kg (under 150 lb).

Panamá is America too

I took this picture on my trip to Panama. This country, like the rest of the Latin American countries, manages to merge modernity with tradition in the most pleasant way. In this shot you can see the most modern area of this country and how, on the left, the Pacific Ocean reaches its shores.

So many developments going on in this place. Panama seems to be booming in the recent years! Thank you so much for your participation. Tomas

This photo was made by me in Costa Rica. I lived in a small eco-hotel, which was very distant from any civilization. This is an incredible feeling when you go out on the beach in the morning and the chances of meeting a person are much lower than any animal.

What the colours, beautiful sky! Thanks ever so much for your participation. Tomas
