Today, you can participate by submitting your personal pictures from your travels to the continent of North America.

See the winner of the last week´s North American Friday @gunnarheilmann with the following entry:

This is a lucky shot one gets rarely. Last year i was at the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in California photographing at night. Then take a 4000 years old tree, 3 Shooting Stars (the third one is hard to see in low res) and a plane add the Milky Way and wait for this to happend it in front of you in the same minute you sit there. I got lucky and managed to get it in one single long exposure Light Painting. Starting off with a first 2minute of the exposure at F22 ISO 3200 lighting up the Metusalem, then when I was finished with that I gave the Milky Way another 30 seconds to develop, changing the settings of the lens to F2.8. Then we saw 3 shooting stars in the sky plus that air plane. What a surprise! What makes that picture so special is that there was no layers needed in post-production. Just the way I like it, No Photoshop needed.

Only use of personal images will be accepted and only one picture can be submitted for a daily photo challenge. Ten winning photos will receive a bigger upvote from me and ten runners-up will get a smaller one.

Chosen from the ten winning entries, the absolute winner of the day will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts. The winning picture of the daily challenge will then automatically enter other rounds with the absolute winner gaining approximately 200 SBD in total.

Waiting for the sun to rise behind himalayan mountains from poon hill... a particular moment! Many Trekkers sleep in Ghorepani a village near Poon Hill and get up early to see the sunrise above the 8000nds Dhaulagiri (8167 m) and Annapurna. It's awesome.

The ice that calve off glaciers form huge floating icebergs that slowly drift with ocean currents until they melt into the sea. As temperatures warm this will result in sea levels rising.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - European Thursday week #76 - winner announcement!

@davedavis91 European Thursday entry:

Berlin, Capital of Germany. A place where you'll find the ugly and beautiful, the cheap and the wealthy the popular and the infamous.... all next to each other. Sometimes it feels like you'd be walking through a piece of run down once upon a time popular piece of architecture and all the sudden you will find yourself next to a pretty castle like this one. Most diverse architecture in one place.

Snap shot taken in a street in Campeche City - the largest and capital city of the Mexican state of Campeche. Founded in 1540 by Spanish colonialists, the city was built on the site of what used to be the ancient Mayan city of Can Pech. A significant part of the old buildings built by the Spaniards in the 16th and 17th century is still well preserved, giving the city its characteristic colonial atmosphere and the unique historic feel.

Today I'm sharing something very simple - the brilliant sunset in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I used to live there for a few months and took this photo right from one appartment's balcony. Typical tropical island life - endless sunshine and palm trees. :)

Me gusta, Donica;)

:D Gracias Liltammy! (Shall I call you Lil or Tammy?)

Photo of the Lake Louise in the Banff National Park, in Alberta, Canada. The characteristic colour, emerald green of its water, is due to the fact the water is from glaciar origin. On the shore of the lake there is the famous hotel Chateau Lake Louise, seen at the left of the image.

Angels Landing, Zion National Park
The short but steep hike up to Angels landing was probably the most beautiful hike we ever made. Special fun is the last part of the hike where you have to climb a little ;)

Woah' that's a long ways down!

Hi Everyone,

Today I will be sharing a picture of purest form of reflection.
Location: Purity Springs New Hampshire

The Purity springs is located between the mountains and thus avoiding modern pollution and windy vibrations on water surface. This allows the pure water surface to reflect the colorful fall trees and snow.

The Mittens of Monument Valley
These iconic rock formations are the main attraction in Monument Valley which is located in northern Arizona near the Utah border. This broad desolate landscape is part of the Navajo Nation and draws tourist from all over the world.

Yes really great pictures! From where are you exactly?

Hey thanks' I live in Sedona which is in north central Arizona.

Yay ~ always happy to see an entry from you...! Somehow they are always among my favorites :)

Thanks a lot, you gave me a smile today. I appreciate the heart warming compliment!

Oh my dearest pleasure <3

Canadian Cottage Life: Being British I just love to visit Canada to truly appreciate real 'space', and also for the 'cottage life'. That is to own a cottage, or land far out of the city in nature. There is nothing better than taking yourself away from normal life to the countryside, sitting by a campfire in the night with a guitar singing songs. Absolute freedom.

Yucatan Peninsula is known to have the world’s most widespread range of underwater sinkholes and caves called "cenotes". Away from the bustle of the city, street vendors and thousands of tourists is Cenote San Crisanto. For 60 pesos, you will be poled 1.2 km through the mangroves in a small boat to the cenote where it is divine crystal clear water, perfect for a swim with the fish.

The first time I was shooting with a Nikon. A good friend of mine lend me his 810 so I could play. We spend a whole day running around Manhatten and ended the day here with a sunset at the peers. What a wonderful view. Very thankful for the result i come home to the hotel with this amazing shot. Thank you New York for showing off like that.

Here is a glimpse inside the Caesar Palace of Las Vegas. I like the Roman inspiration, found it well done. He has appeared in several movies but seeing it in real life is much cooler.
