7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Asian Sunday week #29 – winner announcement!

@best-trip-eva Asian Sunday entry:

Sunrise at Mt. Rinjani (3,726 meters or 12,224 ft). This is the second highest volcano in Indonesia. Mt. Agung - the highest volcano on Bali island, which recently erupted - is visible on the back-right. All three of the Gili Islands can be seen before it. On the left side in the clouds the perfect cone shape of Rinjani is visible. The picture was taken the end of August 2017 and the trekking of the volcano was the highlight of my journey in Indonesia.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Australian Monday week #29 – winner announcement!

@mibreit-photo Australian Monday entry:

On my first visit to New Zealand I spent a night in downtown Auckland. Early in the morning I made my way to a bridge from where I could overlook the skyline and some interesting intersections below. With a longtime exposure I could create a nice effect for the photo.

Lhoknga is one of the best coastal areas in the greater Aceh face to the Indian Ocean. Therefore Lhoknga is one of the best sunset locations in Aceh. Almost every day and especially on Sunday crowded young people who come to enjoy and capture the sunset in Lhoknga. One of them is Sunset Surf Cafe which is a cafe directly opposite to the sunset.

I took this photo during my visit to Harare, Zimbabwe last October. This is Africa Unity Square in downtown Harare. I like this, not because it's exotic or unique, but because it's completely ordinary. This was mid-morning so people are on their way to work, or perhaps taking a break, or walking to school. It's a reminder that, even continents apart, people are probably doing the exact same things you are.

This dune looks amazing - until you attempt to climb it! The sand makes it really hard to lift your feet and the strong winds are not improving the situation. However, the view from the top of this dune in the Moroccan Sahara totally made up for that and watching the colours of the majestic dunes slowly change during golden hour was one of the most amazing sunsets I have seen on my travels!

Your images with the dunes are just out of this world!

Kolmanskop, Namibia

Located where the Namib Desert meets the Atlantic, Kolmanskop was one of the many efforts humans have made over the centuries to bend nature and the environment to their will. It was once one of the wealthiest towns in the world, a town made rich by an accidental discovery in 1908 of the largest diamond deposits in the world. And that's how it looks today.

Colourful evening in Luxor, Egypt. And one of the rare cases that wasn't in position to make any nice landscape or cityscape photo in a usual way. Just was impossible... Only left to try to to get the part of this amazing sky with some palm leaves silhouette.

And finally the frame here is turned 90 degrees to the right to get much more unusual feeling of the scenery

Enjoy :)

Here we go again:)

The Medina of Essaouira is a magical place. It combines the best of Moroccan medinas and villages bordering the Mediterranean. The whitewashed Medina is decorated with bright blue doors and windows and different colors most of the streets are painted, each lane leading to a new corner to discover. It's not all that big and you can see it all in two full days (ie, if you're busy I could spend weeks lounging around Essaouira!). There are two or three main streets that intersect in the souk area in the middle.

Essaouira Morocco..

That wall is huge! Thank you for your contribution. Tomas

I spotted this group of Zebras on my trip through the etosha nationalpark. They carefully drank some water, while looking out for predators. Sometime lions hide in the high gras, looking for weak or lonesome animals to catch.

Super photo!! I just love it.

It sure is a tough life out there! That is a real Africa... Thank you for sharing your wonderful image with all of us. Tomas

This is the Saqqara pyramid, in Egypt. Not many people know but this pyramid is older than the pyramids of Giza. They where restoring it when I was there earlier this year. The guy on the donkey tried to sell me his Egyptian Cadillac (his donkey) even though I got him down to a good price, I had to refuse because it wouldn't have fit on the bus. ☺

LOL, I love the story with the donkey! Thank you for your contribution. Tomas

Haha good times 😁

The lunar landscapes of the Egypt desert. The wind and sand have had plenty of time to play with the limestone and chalk rocks, giving them these strange shapes that are even better when illuminated. The best way to fully enjoy this place is to sleep under the stars. Those are our tents in the background.

Wow, I have not slept in a tent in a while! Would be great to do so in such an amazing location. Have a great day. Tomas

The African wild dog - also sometimes called the hunting dog or African painted dog - has a colorful, patchy coat; large bat-like ears; and a bushy tail with a white tip that may serve as a flag to keep the pack in contact while hunting.
Even in large, well-protected reserves, or in stable populations remaining largely independent of protected areas (as in northern Botswana), African Wild Dogs live at low population densities.

I was lucky enough to encounter them on a Safari in South Africa. It was a wonderful experience!

That sure must have been an amazing experience! Thank you for sharing with us here on Steemit. Tomas

Such fantastic contributions ....I will share my trinket anyway.

The pyramids of Giza and The Sphinx are renowned symbols of Egypt. The Sphinx at 241 feet long and 66 feet high is known to be the largest monolith statue in the world. Giza, being partt of the 'western desert has been since centuries prone to desert storms, resulting in the statue being buried in sand for nearly 3000 years. It wasn’t until the early 20th century that the statue would once again be fully excavated. Here's a picture of the Sphinx with The great Pyramid in the background taken in year 2014.

Thanks,
SwAti

Thank you so much for your participation with this great entry. Tomas
