Namibia - Stuck Between a Rock and a Hardplace – 7 Life Lesson’s Learned while Travelling.

in #travel7 years ago

This is the story of our journey through Southwest Africa also known as Namibia a 4x4ing experience that everyone should have on their bucket list. Navigating your way through the rather challenging, rocky terrain of Namibia.

There are a variety of ways of travelling through Namibia from Overlander trucks, back packing or 4x4ing, each having it's own advantages and for any kind of tourist.

Travelling from Swakopmund Northwards through the Skeleton Coast onto what is known as the Marienvluss, then moving east along the border of Namibia and Angola towards Epupa Falls.

From Epupa falls we made our way to Etosha National Park then towards the final destination of the Caprivi for some serious Tiger Fishing.

In our case we decided to go in our Land Rover Discovery and the Imagine Comfort Van equipped with everything you need to encounter any challenge heading your way including a sufficient amount food, water and fuel as well a few extra tires which were nearly not enough…

The Imagine Comfort Van has a gas stove top, a basin, kitchen unit, fridge, freezer a double bed, gas geyser and a portable potti all at your disposal to make the journey all the more comforting.

So off we went…

Making our way to our first stop known as the Skeleton Coast, not what we expected to see but its exactly what you would imagine when visiting a place as ominous as the Skeleton Coast.

2.jpg

The Skeleton coast is well known as a graveyard for a multitude of shipwrecks that can be found littering the coastline.

First week in and around Puros we experienced our first set back.

The wheel bearing from the caravan managed to pop off, the wheel rolled under the back of the caravan allowing the momentum to bounce the caravan and rolling it in the process. I realized my first life lesson, (1) there will always be setbacks in life the important thing is to stay focused pick yourself back up and keep going.

Nobody was hurt in the process…

(2) There will always be better times waiting around the corner, moments that are meant to be cherished. (Apricot Sunset of Namibia)

This is the reason why a 4x4 is necessary for navigating these kinds of routes in Northern Namibia. The route from Puros to the Marienvluss.

The important thing is to (3) imagine and discover endless possibilities on your journey.

(4) There will always be traffic along the way.

17.jpg

Nothing a little Duct tape and pop rivets cannot fix. (5) At times a little patch up is all you need to get up and continue the Journey.

Always remember that no matter how tough the journey becomes just keep moving on as you never know what opportunities are waiting around the corner.

And finally (7) hang on until the end and you will be rewarded according to your efforts!!!

Thanks for sharing. This looks like an amazing trip. Some really cool pictures. you should write an article using introduceyourself as the hashtag, and tell us a little about you. Also advise you use a picture with the words "Steemit" in it used in a creative way .... just a community thing. Happy steeming, and hope you will see you at the Steem Saturday event early in September to be held in Gauteng.

I will have to have a look into it, thanks for the feedback. Still in the process of figuring out how Steemit works, but all in due time, all the best.
