Fenghuang is a famous ancient city, and a place modern people consider to be paradise as well. But in most cases, visitors say it is not that fun in Fenghuang. That is because the hasty trip destroys your good intentions, which makes it difficult for you to enjoy the travelling hoy. Thus the travel becomes a hurried commemoration. Personally, I think Fenghuang deserves three trips. The first time is to enjoy the special peace for oneself. The second time you should take your lover to this romantic city. The third time, ask your friends to have fun together. Fenghuang’s beauty lies in its national characteristic and the details of local life from Shen Congwen’s works.

凤凰是闻名的古城，也是现代都市人民所向往的天堂。但是很多时候到了凤凰游玩的游客往往都说不好玩，那是因为，你想去寻觅的心境被苍促行程抹灭了，难以去体会旅行的乐趣，只是匆匆的做了一个纪念。个人觉得去凤凰应该去三次。第一次独自前往去感受那份安宁，第二次带上你的她（他）这个世界只剩你我，第三次叫上你的朋友们独乐乐不如众乐乐。凤凰的美丽是因为带来了很强的民族气息和沈从文所以描绘出当代文学家所不能描写出的那种人民的淳朴和善良。

1. Traffic

When it comes to going Fenghuang, the first thought is the traffic. All the visitors hopes to get there easily and conveniently. What we often call Fenghuang is the the ancient city of Fenghuang.

There is no train to Fenghuang, but the buses from Changsha to Fenghuang is convenient. You can also take the a train to Jishou, Huaihua or Tongren, then go the Fenghuang by buses.

①BUS: Changsha West Bus Station/South Bus Station — Fenghuang Bus Station — the ancient city of Fenghuang

②TRAIN: Changsha Railway Station — Jishou Railway Station —the ancient city of Fenghuang

一、交通 

去凤凰，首先想到的交通，都希望通过最简单，便捷的交通方式抵达凤凰，通常所说的凤凰，指的是凤凰古城。

凤凰不通火车，长沙到凤凰的汽车还是十分方便滴。另外就是坐火车一般是到吉首、怀化、铜仁再转汽车到凤凰古城。

1、长沙汽车西站，南站到凤凰汽车站然后做小巴到凤凰古城

2，坐火车到吉首火车站。然后还是小巴到凤凰城。

2. Accommodation                             

There are lots of hotels in Fenghuang. People always say, if you don’t live in the ancient city of Fenghuang, you can’t say you have been there. Most of the hotels there are family hotels with washroom, hot water, TV and air conditioner, which are clean and healthy. Stilted building are the characteristic buildings there. For environmental protection, all the hotels do not provide one-time wash supplies, you’d better bring your own. When you live along the riversides of Tuojiang River, you can open the window and see the clear river water, feel the wind from the river and enjoy the beautiful night scene of the ancient city. 

二、住宿                                                     

凤凰的旅店很多，很多去过凤凰的人都说：“不住凤凰城，枉到凤凰行”。凤凰古城基本上都是家庭旅馆，一般带彩电，热水，卫生间，空调，条件还是比较干净卫生的。吊脚楼比较有特色。为了环保的需要，凤凰的酒店和客栈均不提供一次性洗嗽用品，建议最好是自带。沱江边住宿，一般只的是靠近古城沱江二边建立的住房，临江房推开窗户，就可以看到清澈的沱江，吹着江风，欣赏古城美丽的夜景。

Some characteristic villages: Hook Liang Miao Village, Cave Miao Village, Old Hole Miao Village, Jiangshan Miao Village, Shan Jiang Miao Village, Guan Tian Shan Miao Village, Dong Jiu Miao Village, Miao people Gu Miaozhai and so on.

三、景点

沱江吊脚楼、回龙阁吊脚楼 、沈从文墓地、南方长城、黄丝桥古城、奇梁洞、天龙峡、沱江泛舟。凤凰有特色的村寨有：勾良苗寨、岩洞苗寨、老洞苗寨、山江苗寨、关田山苗寨、冬就苗寨、苗人谷苗寨等。

四、特色小吃

酸萝卜、社饭、桐叶粑粑、口味田螺、凉粉、熏蜡肉、罐罐菌炒肉、血粑鸭、酸菜鱼、苗家酸鱼、酸罗卜、苗家泡菜、蕨菜、回锅肉、酸汤鱼、罐罐菌、豆腐渣、酸菜汤、梅花糕，臭豆腐，汤圆。还有糯米酒等等。 

5. entertainment

There are many characteristic bars along the Tuojiang River. The bonfire part is one of the most wonderful activities you can’t miss. At the party, you will see the mysterious and horrible Xiangxi handler and Nuo Opera, the heart-stopping Miao stunt— "on Daoshan, under the sea of fire", Miao weddings and Tujia crying marriage which are full of national characteristics. You can also feel the most passionate love of Miao young people, and taste the sweet Xiangxi junmaishu. In the evening, it’s so bustling along the riverside, because there is a very popular activity — Floating River Lanterns. When people put lanterns in the Tuojiang River, the river shows its nature and peace and tolerates the mortal coil. At the same time, people make their wishes and express their blessings. Tuojiang River has a totally different beauty from during the day with its ancient and mysterious essence under those red lanterns. 

五、娱乐

凤凰古城有很多独具特色的酒吧，都在沱江边。古城篝火晚会是古城风情不可缺少的一个亮点，在晚会上可以欣赏到到古老神秘又略带恐怖的湘西赶尸和傩戏，惊心动魄的苗家绝技上刀山下火海，充满民族特色的苗家婚礼和土家哭丧嫁，可以体会到苗家青年男女赶“边边场”的缠绵悱恻，还可以品位韵味无穷的湘西纯米酒。沱江边放河灯，沱江给人展示着自然和清净，也包容了尘世所有的喧闹。晚上，沱江边上更是热闹非凡，其中最主要的一个活动，放河灯。天天可以许下心愿，盛满祝福。在沱江红红的灯笼的映照下，有了种古朴和神秘的神韵，让沱江多了份与白天不同的美。

Fenghuang is an ancient, mysterious and rustic mountain city, which is full of romantic feelings. This November, when I go back my hometown, I will go to the amazing city I have been longing for all the time.
