In Pictures - Medieval Festival Zmajurjevo in Zagreb
Today a local visit to ZmaJurjevo, a medieval festival with an aim to celebrate the good ol times of Zagreb and mark the start of spring. I like to celebrate with a beer!
A nice weapon assortment greeted me on the first look.
You probably know that St. George and the particular dragon in question had their differences and one had to meet the pointy edge. A metaphor for a battle between good and evil.
George is Juraj in Croatian, zmaj is a dragon - so a mix - Zmajurjevo.
With an obvious religious connotations it was only fitting to have happened behind the cathedral.
And who doesn't love dragons? I like my dragon beer the most of course.
This little guy confused me for a dragon.
There was a standard set of medieval games, weapons and armor.
Before participating it is customary to make a call to the notary on business. I required my respected name to be put into the public ledger although I wasn't a noble or carrying any significant wealth. The kind notary told me that wasn't a problem at all and pushed her seal on the parchment. Buzz was ready to do his tasting rounds, but let's leave that for tomorrow.
There was food as well but I wasn’t impressed. Those medieval folks didn’t eat real healthy.
It was interesting that the event was organised by The Order of the Guardians of the City of Zagreb and Templar Order. Those guys always intrigued me, and if anyone knows how to do a good recreation it must be them.

Wow...sound would be awesome. It's pretty stunning meaning in these town. Most awesome weapons there for fighting shows. Did you used weapons in there? Kids, ladies and gentlemen attend nice gaming events. Amazing viewing cathedral indeed. You draw amazing art using nameBuzzbeergeek. I'm not interesting these food made. But you didn't tell what's choice beer used there. However greatest experience.
That looks like a fun event!! I have been to renaissance fairs in the US - but grew up among real castles. Yours looks like so much more fun than the ones we have here.
