The Majestic Hoover Dam
We didn't know about this dam, it just suddenly showed up beside our car when we were driving to Las Vegas. It looked so majestic and we had never seen such thing before, so of course we decided to stop. The height is actually 222 m (726 ft) and the length is 379 m (1244 ft), it was huge!
The name of the dam is Hoover Dam and is located at the border between U.S. states Arizona and Nevada and is built on the Colorado River. The dam was built to control floods, provide irrigation water and produce hydroelectric power. Lake Mead is situated nearby and is formed by the Hoover dam and works as a reservoir that serves water to the states of Nevada, California, and Arizona.
There were lots of tourists, I guess it's because the U.S. Route 93 is located nearby and that the Hoover dam is easily accessed from there. I always wondered, what would happen if you opened that dam completely at once?! Probably a disaster.

Wow .. That's a very amazing dam. It can not be imagined destruction if opened. The water is flowing with great power. Hope it never happens. You take great pictures @borran. 👍

I've visited the Hoover Dam twice and it's such a amazing monument. Have you been to other huge dams ? We visited China last summer and saw the 3 Gorgeous Dam and I can tell you that one is REALLY huge! Here is the post.
