An awesome day on Koh Phangan

Welcome back!

This post is kind of a "Special". In the first episode, I wrote about our journey to Bangkok and the days we spent there. Check here if you haven't seen yet.

Now in this episode, I would like to share our experience of one single day on Koh Phangan.
In the mid of hour holidays there, we decided to book a tour to see more of the island. Of course, we could have also rent a motorbike and discovered it on our own, but to be honest, I was a little bit afraid of driving there 😆.

However, we booked a tour called "Eco Nature Tour" and I can really recommend it to everyone who visits the island. It is 100% run by locals and our guide was incredibly nice and helpful. Unfortunately, there is no website or FB appearance but you can check the video below which gives you some good impressions.

The tour included several stops around the island e.g. an elephant camp, a coconut farm, several beaches and a great bar.

Start of day

We got picked up at our hotel at 9 p.m. and brought to the starting point where we got some light breakfast. The camp was quite small but very comfortable to be at. They also had several animals there like the parrot on the picture and a second one who was talking all the time 😜.

First stop - Temple and viewing point

First, we were brought to a little temple on the top of a hill. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of it. It was not really a temple in my opinion but more like a little chapel or kind of that. Next to it, there was also a nice viewpoint which was really cool.

Elephant camp

The second stop was an elephant camp, or at least they called it like that. Since we love animals, and especially elephants and monkeys we decided at the very beginning not to ride one of those gigantic animals. Instead, we just feed them and hang around which was a nice experience. It is incredible how sensitive they are with their trunk. Also, the feeling of their skin if you touch them is very strange - soft and hard at the same time.

I still hope that they are treated well by the people who run the business but at least they seem to be happy. When we were there we had the feeling that they really take care of them, but of course, you never know what happens as soon as you leave.

Than Sadet Waterfall and Bottle Beach

The next stops were a nice little waterfall and bottle beach where we had around 1 hour to swim and relax.

After a very nice and tasty lunch back at the basis camp, we got to the best part of the day.

Coconut Farm

This woman opens 800 - 1000 coconuts per day!
She is doing this for more than 10 years and earns 1 Baht per coconut. For comparison purpose, our guide earns 350 Baht per day. So the salary for this insanely hard work is more than two times of an average salary.

It was very interesting to see how everything works there and they gave us some good information e.g. that Chinese use the fibers of the coconut shell for filling pieces of furniture or that a palm needs 7 years until the first coconut can be harvested.
They also use the shells for making charcoals and animal feed.

They plant these coconuts in the sand and magic happens 😉

Of course, you also need to get the coconuts down on the ground. As you may know, they let this part do the monkeys.

This little guy was 1,5 years old and is currently in training. His name was Khao.

Since he is so young he really likes to play around. He was biting a little bit (like dog puppies) and jumping around. We really think that he had a lot of fun with us and so had we with him.

The funny thing was when you gave him your hand he was totally relaxed and just sitting around.

The coconut was his true love ^^

360 Bar

After this funny experience, we finished the day with some snorkeling at Ko Ma and an awesome bar at the top of a hill.

That was the second part of my journey. I know this time there are a lot of pictures and less explained but I think pictures are more valuable than words. 😉 I hope you enjoyed my story.

In the next and last episode, I will bring you a little bit of the resort we stayed and impressions of the beach and the village so stay tuned for that.

Monkey is almost the same as a human he quickly understands what is taught by his employer ..
How to care for monkey is:
Feed regularly
Bathe her
Put her in a clean and tidy place
Giving milk
And its part

Part of animal lovers know the will of the animal and placing it like a monkey-free dialam can feel the same as human ..

A few explanations from me ...

Salamat rested and congratulated everywhere you were a steemit friend

@bon3s90

Yeah, I agree. And I think they really care about the monkeys. I was shocked first when I saw the rope but he was really neat and he got a lot of food so we soon got a better feeling.

Awesome!

Been there too and loved it. Don't forget to give Koh Tao a visit.

Have fun!

It is very lovely there, yes.
Already at home -.-, we haven't been to Koh Tao, because we were just 2 weeks and we thought it is too stressful.
Going there next time ;-)

@bon3s90 Really good post.

Thank you :-)
