Totally agree with your point of view on traveling on yourself. I booked a travel package to Sri Lanka because it was almost the same price as the price for the plane for itself. So I decided to nevertheless travel on my own and use the hotel as a base to leave my luggage. Every time I was at the hotel for an evening I realized that people there didn't have the same mindset as tourists traveling individual. Lots of people just behaved rude because they thought they payed the price for everything so all their extra-wishes should be included.
