A Walk to Remember!

in #travel6 years ago

Big Island have many nice walks. This particular trail that I like a lot is in the Waikoloa area, near Anchialine Ponds. The walk starts at some brackish water ponds, but quickly gets to a coral and volcanic rock beach.

Since this is not much much of a 'beach' (no sand), it is not that popular. So chances are you can have the trail along the beach and backwater, to yourself. We certainly did this evening. There are Hawaiian Turtles come in to rest, which is exciting to see.

That little piece of sand is all the Turtle need to enjoy basking in the setting sun.

My girls love to collect corals here, so see and play with all possible shapes and features. It is just a very nice late-afternoon and evening walk. Also you can see some spectacular sunsets from here.

Its a beautiful unspoilt stretch of nature, and most unusual... no wonder its a favourite of yours! And the turtles... :) Spectacular sunset indeed...

I am glad you like it. It is not much of a beach in Hawaiian standard, but I am glad it is that way. Anywhere else a beach like this will be crowded.

I think its unusual for me because of the amount of coral washed up on the beach, and of course the volcanic rock - you don't see that in many places... not near my side anyway.

Agree. It is very Hawaiian :) May be it is seen in other parts of the world but I have only seen it in Hawaii

Maybe some beaches in Bali... I wonder... :) or some other Indonesian beach, afterall the volcanic factor exists there too...
