Although I wore a dress that said, “Whiskey Makes Me Friskey” I had none this evening as we went out to a brewery for a weekly Latin Jazz jam session!

My husband’s friend, Bill Caballeros, hosts a weekly jazz jam in Barrio Logan, a once upon considered “rough” part of town that is home to Chicano Park and lots of up and coming coffee shops and restaurants. Talk about gentrification!

Border X has delicious brews with a Latin flair such as Tejuino beer which is a hominy brew with lime, tangy and light- perfect for a hot evening!

My husband sat in and sang for a couple of tunes and we also ate some of the delicious street style tacos they grill up in the back. It was quite warm and the night was young so we decided to head over to a new spot in Chula Vista by the name of The Gentle Penguin.

The cocktails were awesome, their Moscow Mule was perfect, and it soon got filled to capacity! There was good music and lots of dancing!
We wanted a more quiet spot so we went to the backside lounge where we could still listen to music but be more relaxed.

All in all it was a great night and we had so much fun!
I love discovering new places!
