Norwegian "Nights" - Experiencing the (almost) Midnight Sun | Adventure Every Day
The Midnight Sun doesn't quite reach the southern coast of Norway, but the summer nights are still pretty darn short! This is what it looks like when you time lapse it overnight. Enjoy!
Although I did experience the actual midnight sun in northern Norway last summer, this is close enough for me. The was filmed in Kolbjørnsvik along the southern coast of Norway, the site of the wharf party in my previous post.
Kolbjørnsvik is well outside of the region of northern Norway that gets actual midnight sun, but as you can see in the video, it still doesn't get very dark down here around the summer solstice.
Living in the sun
When I moved to Norway, the long summer nights were something I was really looking forward to. I thought it sounded awesome to have daylight almost all the time - and it is - but it can really throw off your sleeping schedule.
There were a good number of nights where I woke up last summer at 3:30- 4:30 in the morning due to the daylight coming through the window. I would immediately assume it was time to get up and get to work, only to check my phone and find that I had in fact at least a couple more hours to sleep. But then it's hard to sleep when it's already light outside.
In contrast, the long, cold winter nights might not sound so glamorous, but at least getting a full night's rest isn't a problem!

I´ve always wanted to live in a nordic country for at least a month and the nights are definitely something I look forward to! It is so expensive I might not be able to do it in a while, at least not before South america and Sout East Asia which are on my list first hehe
Ohhh full night rest is overrated!! Keep enjoying there my friend! You never know if or when you leave you´ll miss those nights waking up at 4 am!

The Midnight Sun is just a amazing thing to see and to feel, had chance to be at Sommaroy , Tromso a couple years ago :)

I've discover the midnight sun in the Lofoten island few years ago.... one of the best experience of my life ! You are very lucky to live in Norway...
