When I was at the Great Wall, I couldn't help thinking that what makes it special is kinda impossible to notice while you are there. I only saw a few kilometers of the thing going over the next mountain in each direction. It's pretty crazy to think it stretches thousands of kilometeres, but I hear it gets run down fast away from the tourist areas. The forbidden city, you can easily see all of it in one day and it's very impressive.
