How To Know Your Translation Costs in Crowdin

in #translations6 years ago (edited)

Hey, are you enjoying your rewards for translation tasks done in Crowdin platform? If not, then you should know how much your translation work really costs?

Check Your Translation Cost

1 Go to your Crowdin profile page

2 Under 'Projects,' choose any specific project name you've joined

For example, FunditionPl project page...

3 In the project's page, click on the 'Reports' link

4 In 'Reports' page, go to 'My Contribution'

Put the amount of your regular rate in dollars (USD/$). So if it's .10 or .30 cents per word, type it inside the 'default' box. You can also use the 'individual rate' box to get your translation cost.

5 In the 'Date Range' box, set there the day(s) and month(s) that you've localized the project. Then click Generate button.

See the translation cost result below the 'Date Range' box

Here's a sample of my own Translation Cost for localizing the Fundition platform into Filipino:

You can find out from Crowdin how much per translated word(s) these project owners should pay you as a translator.

Don't sell yourself short!

How, as a Steemian, would you react on what you've been missing [in dollars/USD/$] when you've translated/localized some of these platforms into your native language?

I appeal to my fellow Steemians, especially the translators: STOP SELLING YOURSELF SHORT!

I know this sounds a bit controversial because it's coming from an "approved translator" of DaVinci.Witness-Utopian-io, but you can do the checks-and-balances yourself.

Check out each Steemian doing the translation/localization task here >> trending tag #translations.

How many of these Steemians missed their rewards or upvotes for a translation task that's being scored? Are these translation tasks disqualified? Or, are they being ignored for not doing the policy (by the book)?

Should Steemians even beg for rewards or upvotes?

Translations done in Crowdin should be paid, IMHO.

When you do see yourself in a position/role as a translator and you're qualified to do it, but you're getting discouraged because your post was not upvoted or was ignored, maybe it's time to STOP SELLING YOURSELF SHORT!

Remember, it's your native tongue or national language that you're using when you translate/localize these platforms.

I would love to hear your thoughts in the "reply" area below this post.

Thanks for reading. ^^

Live great! Mabuhay!

korek! hon, hindi kawalan ang ginagawa nyo, sila ang nawawalan

Tama ka, hon @artgigs. Habang nagsisimula pa lang ang mga blockchain sa Pinas na umangat, kailangang may mga standard o recommendation na dapat sundin ^^
