[Seany's Daily Shenanigans] It's a Singapore Train map.... or is it?!

in #train6 years ago (edited)

Recently, I had helped out with a local company in the publication of a Japanese magazine. The purpose of the magazine was to provide some recommendations for Japanese tourists visiting Singapore, in areas such as food, places to go, museums, attractions, souvenirs to purchase.

The magazine is quite thick, and not on shelves yet, but I think it should be soon!
I browsed through the 2018 pre-release version and I saw something really interesting. I think they are the only people capable of making the train transport map so different, yet correct and if I may add, very 'Japanese-ish'.

I think you have to zoom into the image to see the stations clearly!

I am pretty sure local Singaporeans would not have been able to guess that this was a a Singapore MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) Map on first glance, Right....?

Compare it to a Tokyo Train map, the style is quite similar eh?

For the record, this is how we normally see the train map in Singapore. Not so 'compact-ish'.

Did the magazine also warn japanese tourists not to rely on our train timings?

i think maybe it warned them that they should be happy the train even arrives, eventually...

Yea the Japanese is so creative with their things. They have their own brand. Upvoted!

yea its all so squary! but then one downside is that we can't really gauge the NSEW direction of the places on the square map

Oh wow their map is so cool! But a little confusing. I prefer the last one.
