Domuz Beyni Ölümünden 4 Saat Sonra Kısmen Canlandırıldı
Deney Yale Üniversitesinde geliştirilen bir sisteme 32 domuz beyni bağlanarak yapıldı. Beyin hücrelerinin ölümünü önlemek amacıyla domuz beyinlerine nabız görevi görecek, oksijen yüklü özel bir sıvı nakledildi ve domuz beyinleri 6 saat boyunca bu sıvıyla beslendi.
Deney sonucunda beyin hücrelerinin iletişimini sağlayan sinapsların faaliyet gösterdiği, hücre ölümünün gerilediği, bir miktar beyinsel aktivitenin gerçekleştiği ve beynin canlı bir beynin vereceği türde tepkiler verdiği ortaya çıkmıştır.
Bu deney beyin hücrelerinin ölümden sonra tahmin edilenden daha uzun yaşadığını, hatta bazı hücre ölümlerinin ertelenebildiğini ve durdurulabildiğini gösteriyor. Bilim adamlarının, deney esnasında beyinlerin bilinç kazanmasının etik sorunları da beraberinde getireceği endişesiyle anestezi içeren bir karışımı beyinlere enjekte etmek üzere bir B planları da bulunmaktaydı.

This reminds of Cryogenics but my feeling is; so your body has been frozen... but when you are brought back, you will have no soul. Touchy topic yes, but I imagine this could be used as a means for organ donors.
