RE: Mr Toilet House - A Poopy Post on Toilet Thursday

in #toiletthursday5 years ago

This post is the shit. Joking aside about the seeming absurdity of a museum for toilets, the history of defecation and how humans have handled it really is fascinating as you mention throughout the article. In ancient Rome, tanners were actually charged a tax for the urine they collected from public toilets! Neat stuff. Or not so neat stuff, I suppose, depending on your point of view.

Per your suggestion I did Google "Mr Toilet House" and was not disappointed.

Sort:

There were actually some roman style and a few other style toilets there, but I felt that they didn't fit the blog. They used a sponge instead of a straw rope, luxury by comparison.
I'm not sure if they collected urine specifically here, but 'night soil' was a thing until surprisingly recent times.
