TIL How You can use your Drone to Cook Thanksgiving Dinner

in #til9 years ago

Normally I think of Drones in the sense of racing, getting cool aerial photography, or used to survey homes or land. But today I found a news story that showed how a Drone manufacturer, Autel Robots is able to prepare and cook a Thanksgiving meal with it's newest flying product.

Sick of peeling and chopping your herbs and vegetable? No problem! Afraid to be near the vat of boiling oil while deep frying your turkey? Problem solved! Looking for a new fun way to beat eggs or batter? Look no further!

Admittedly this may not be the safest, cleanest or quick method to make your holiday meal, but what a great story to tell all your dinner guests!

[NOTE: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!]

Here is the news story about this from the Universal Press International website.

Oh goodness. Upvote for the shaking my head at society factor. hahaha :-)

Hehe, yea. It's definitely one of those instances of 'someone really thought of that!?!?!'

I've thought similar of people trying other firsts like flying or cliff jumping. At some point in history it hadn't been known before and yet was still tried. I'm glad there are adventurers out there though either to blaze a path to industry or entertainment. I'm happy being second fiddle in those instances. Lol

That is wild! Do people really deep fry their turkeys? Isn't that really unhealthy? I know that isn't the point of this story, but that's the bit I find really shocking.
Like a whole turkey? Really?

Our local fair serves deep-fried butter. I'm not even kidding. I wish I was, but I'm not.

Is that lard dribbled over the top?

Oh they definitely do deep fry turkeys, it's kind of been a fad thing for a while. Each year there's at least a couple of people who get injured doing it when they try to put a frozen turkey into the hot oil.

Honestly though, just about anything and everything has been deep fried over here. Snickers, twinkies, pickles, the list is unending! It always makes me think of the 'killer eclair' episode from the Simpsons! lol

We just bought a cooking robot... and now I know that we are screwed! Drones would have been better! At least for the fun in preparing the meals!

Hehe, why do I picture you with a Rosie the robot (like from the jetson's cartoon) in your kitchen now!

Ironically, I just saw this news story earlier today about the first human injured in China by a robot. But this was really just human error.

We need an updated term for human robot error...PEBKAC (problem exists between keyboard and chair) just doesn't seem to fit this these types of instances. Lol

ROFL! (for the first part of the comment).

For the rest, it is indeed very sad. By the way, PEBKAC sounds very weird in French... another acronym may be in order :D

Hehe, PEBKAC is a common IT support term for those who've had to help fix computers for people. A roundabout way of saying human error, but I can only imagine the french terms that it could bring to mind.

I'm sure the butler/maid robots can't be too far off, especially with all the work that's been done in japan for elderly care. Just one more set of jobs to be automated, lol.

Hmm I dont know probably one of the better uses for it lol except its a little messy by the looks of things but the dish looks great upvoted.

Yea, it may not be the most ideal or clean way, but fun to watch for sure. I highly doubt I'll ever see my buddy @giftedgaia attempt this though. Sure it would require new propellers after this.

I'll be happy enough in the future to just have drones deliver me my finished meal. It can't be that far off. lol

Hehe, proof we live in the future! Finally :P

Some ingenious use of a drone here.
Not as ingenious as the way they use a washing machine to make lassi in India.

Haha! That's awesome! I've gotta look that up now! Thx ace :)

I search a bit. even mention in the wikipedia entry:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lassi

I both Love and Loath this idea. On the one side we end up with potentially damaged quadcopter equipment. On the other side we end up with potentially delicious Meat. Its big Life decisions like this - that usually hurt my brainz.

WWRSD?
(What would Ron Swanson do?) rofl
