TIL About a Conspiracy Reality - Governments Are Involved in Drug Dealing

Hearing that the government, specific agencies or people in power, are involved in activity they are hired to stop, is hard for some to accept. We grow up believing good people get into positions of authority like government, police, and other sectors of the "establishment". That they protect and serve the rest of us in society.

Liars and Bullies

But the reality isn't what we are presented with. The USA isn't the hero who fights the drug monster. The US pretends to fight the monster, while actually slipping it food and more ammo between rounds.

I don't feel safe with government gangster thug goons, with aggression issues, low IQ's and big guns, claiming to "protect" me, while I can't even have a gun myself to protect my life.

The government and it's agencies declared a "War on Drugs" in the 1970's, where President Nixon declared drug abuse to be "public enemy number one".

The war on drugs, turned out to be a war on people who use drugs, in order to fuel jobs and an industry for criminalizing non-violent activity.

Drug "offenders" would end up getting more years in jail than rapists or murderers in some cases. Now the US prison population is #1 in the world

The crack-cocaine epidemic that hit the US in the mid-80's came out of nowhere and hit hard. How was it getting in so easily and so fast? A renowned location where the crack epidemic started was South Central LA. The street dealers peddled it, and the drug kingpins and cartels in South America made it. But how did it get from one location to the other?

This is where the US government agency known as the CIA and also the DEA come in.

Busted

Gary Webb was a journalist for the San Jose Mercury News, and he broke a story in 1996 about the CIA and DEA involved drug trade. The US backed the Contra revel army in Nicaragua. The money from the sales of the dope was sent back to fund the Contras. US backed rebels trying to overthrow a socialist government on one side, while the "gangstas" of Compton and South Central were fueled with high volumes of cheap drugs on the other.

Webb gained notoriety and credibility from his and his newspaper's credentials, but some newspapers started to attack his credibility. Webb's reporting led, or forced, the US government to investigate, with a Justice Department report, a CIA report and House committee report. All of the reports concluded Webb's claims were unsubstantiated. People who trust the government trust these reports.

But years earlier, in 1986, the Reagan Administration acknowledged funds from smuggling helped fund the Contra rebels. And in 1998 an Inspector General admitted in a report that that CIA covered up its business relations with drug dealers in Nicaragua for over a decade.

The official end of Gary Webb is a "suicide". But this has sparked alternative theories, given the LA Times and other major newspapers did hit pieces on him. Maybe the CIA was involved in instigating the press to go after him. The CIA has been uncovered as having paid newspapers and media from the 50s-70s in Operation Mockingbird, which likely continued afterwards through other projects.

His suicide seems to have been pressured by all the attacks. Nick Schou, an aware winning investigative journalist, says there were only minor problems with Webb's investigation, and the msot important parts stood up under scrutiny. Yet the major media outlets tore into the small Norther California newspaper like they were on some vendetta.

Jesse Katz from the LA Times, involved in all this, recalls what happened:

“As an L.A. Times reporter, we saw this series in the San Jose Mercury News and kind of wonder[ed] how legit it was and kind of put it under a microscope. And we did it in a way that most of us who were involved in it, I think, would look back on that and say it was overkill. We had this huge team of people at the L.A. Times and kind of piled on to one lone muckraker up in Northern California.”

The story of Gary Webb has been turned into a Hollywood movie called Kill the Messenger with actor Jeremy Renner.

It was aptly called kill the messenger, since that's what the press did to Gary in a non-literal sense. He was the messenger of this information, and they tried to destroy him. Why? I think it comes down to envy. The big LA Time, or other media, didn't break this huge story, it was a the small San Jose Mercury News and Gary Webb instead. Their envy brought them to destroy the man though nitpicking insignificant issues, rather than embrace his research and investigation.

Below are more resources, including two videos listed last, which show Gary himself talk about what he uncovered.

You may think, well, it was never "officially" reported in those federal reports, and Gary was never vindicated for his investigation. Not true. Investigating yourself and trying to save face doesn't result in an honest investigation. There have been numerous cases of the CIA, DEA or ATF planes being caught smuggling in heroin or cocaine by plane. Like the Gulfstream II jet aircraft # N987SA that crash on September 24th, 2007, carrying several tons of cocaine onboard. This plane was a known carrier for CIA rendition flights to the infamous Guantanamo torture chambers from 2003-2005.

Some of them are exposed only after they crash. Beau Abbott is someone who worked as a pilot to smuggle in cargo for the DEA and spoke out about this. DEA agent Michael Levine is another who spoke out about this in The Deep Cover Operation That Exposed the CIA Sabotage of the Drug War. Zambada Niebla is a cartel operative who served as a logistical coordinator, working with the U.S. Department of Justice, DEA, FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), since 2004.

Another case is how the export of opium from Afghanistan increased by over 35-40 times in the years after the US took over. Afghanistan now supplied 90% of the world supply of heroin.

The US, and other governments, are complicit in the drug trade to make money and influence political powers.

It's not that much of a mystery why this continues while acting like they are tying to stop it:

Thanks for this extremely apropos article Kris. It's worth noting that the entire WoD is yet another example of the Hegelian Dialectic at work in a corrupt system of government.

Upvoted and resteemed!!! You're being facetious, you didn't just learn that- surely! Gary Webb was killed investigating the Clinton/Mena Airport connection. The CIA has been involved in smuggling drugs since there's been a CIA. Vietnam & the Golden Triangle, Afghanistan, Air America (the CIA "airline") How do you think the CIA funds itself? Drugs is their "Black funding". That's why they're not fiscally responsible to Congress. Oh, I forgot...Iran-Contra. I've got a ton of info on this, but surely you knew!

1/2 of the material in "TIL" is not learned that day by me, no, LOL. It's a popularized "buzz word" fad way to introduce important topics to people. My content is also usually 2x longer than most TIL posts. It's not about just blah blah TIL topics for me, like others may be doing. I try to bring past knowledge or future possibilities as TIL that has potential to help us learn and better ourselves.

I don't have as much specifics memorized on it all compared to you ;) but yes I am familiar.

I wuz gonna say...You're one of the more astute people I've met here and when I was reading I was thinking, "How could he have just found this out?" I'm familiar because I've been researching the Clintons since Bill was Gov. (I live in Arkansas).

Damn! That's a LONG time. Back in the straight up cocaine dealing days for the Clintons? Was that known at the time?

Absolutely! That's really kind of a minor thing. What I was investing was the Arkansas Development Finance Authority (ADFA) which was Clinton's money laundering scheme (the trial balloon for the Clinton Foundation lol). This is how the CIA/Clinton Machine was able to finance the coke smuggling and hide the cash. It was "loaned" out to Clinton pals and kicked back. It was also how CIA was able to pull off Iran/ Contra. The mother of the kids that were "accidently" killed started asking questions and as soon as people started coming forward they suddenly became despondent and started committing suicide. The Medical Examiner, Fahmy Malak was a buddy of Bill and covered everything up...This is SO big it's amazing. The Arkansas press knew everything and covered it up. I could write a book on this!

Do it, write the book

1 chapter at a time, 2-3x/ week, include all the evidence, photos, links and facts, not just opinions.

Similarly, have a look at my comments here to @krnel

I can't believe you would even hint towards something so obscene! You should be more patriotic!

One can make money, keep people anesthetized and distracted, invent scapegoats, and put whoever one wants in prison (to make more money off them). Sounds like a pretty efficient plan to grow and wield power.

UV and RS for you.

Lots of truth here. You really nailed it early on when you said

We grow up believing good people get into positions of authority like government, police, and other sectors of the "establishment". That they protect and serve the rest of us in society.

Liars and Bullies ......

In 2008/9 is when my wake up really began, period. Your words nailed it. I could not believe the lies and BS ans sociopathic behaviour when I first started going to council meetings to watch what was being done with my community and tax money.

Their behaviour is atrocious and some of these people should be in jail. I have nothing more to say at this time, as a truth based person targeted for speaking truth loudly about the corruption in gov't and the #PoliceState

Oh and PS, Kill the Messenger was a good watch for just after it came out, I watched it this past summer or so. Sad story but really a good separation of the false narrative the media/gov't portray.

I was surprised how much truth they actually put out considering the lies of Hollywood and the like tied to scandalous corruption allll over the place like most everything else

Excellent piece. You've researched it well and kept it quite objective. I venture to say this is one of the first Steemit posts with "conspiracy" in the title that I have voted for because this story was proven to be quite accurate. Also, don't forget what happened in Panama when the U.S. went in to get Noriega and depose his government. That was billed as a gigantic drug bust, when in fact the accepted back story (it's even on Wikipedia and in the history books this way) was that Noriega had stopped cooperating with the CIA's programs. He was running drugs, too, but when he switched teams, he had to be replaced.

Hehe thanks for the feedback! I have another "TIL About a Conspiracy Reality" on the surveillance state.

·
76

Oh yeah, and conspiracies are where people agree to do things that others aren't aware of, in secrecy. I'd say the human world has been created pretty much through conspiracy. People have been machinating getting things done, behind back, backstabbing, etc. Long part of history, hehe.

conspire:
to unite, to agree, to plot
from com "with, together" (see com-) + spirare "to breathe"

I saw a comedian back in the 90's make a very good point...We spend $20 Billion a year on the war on drugs. The cartels make $10 Billion...pay the cartels $15 Billion not to ship drugs. It cuts their risk and overhead plus a $5 Bill increase in profits. We save $5 Bill AND no more drugs! Not sure of the exact figures but the principle is the same!

It only makes sense. There are a couple of factors here that have helped me to understand WHY the Government ends up being this way.

PROHIBITION
By the time prohibition of alcohol had ended a lot of families had gotten very wealthy off of bootlegging alcohol. Among these were families such as the Kennedys. Once prohibition was gone that cash cow was gone.

I have zero doubt it's cash flow change was noticed.

Then we can throw into this mix something known as the Hegelian Dialectic. That also explains why governments logically would do many of the things their citizens consider crazy and just a conspiracy theory. It seems crazy until you understand MOTIVE.

Good article, hardly surprising that everything 'they' say needs to be waged war upon is actually something 'they' love being a part of.
