Adventures in thrifting income from the pay per pound Goodwill - Day 24.
An OK day at the Goodwill. I even took part in the ruckus when they opened up a few new troughs of stuff to search through. That ended up being a bust though, nothing particularly good in there.
I had a good time searching, nonetheless. Check it out.
Today is April 10th and it is day 24. Let's see what I found this Tuesday.
I found a bunch of smaller things today, much of which I will keep.
I found some stuff for the kids, like a My Little Pony doll, Matching Cards game from Eric Carle, a "Sloth Popper," and the Etch A Sketch.
As for myself, I am keeping the Oregon Trail card game, wood airplane model kit, and the little Intel Inside Moon/Space guy. I am thinking of making a cool shelf filled with nerdy type stuff.
For the household, I found two hammered silver Vases. Only silver plated, unfortunately.

I found some more NERF items for the big lot I am building up. I have really accumulated an arsenal so far.
Oh, look at this cool Oregon Trail Card game. It isn't worth much, but I think it is cool. That's why it is a keeper and might even look good on the shelf.
Another cool thing I found was this Metronome that was made in West Germany. It is in excellent condition. I don't even think it was ever used.
So after removing the stuff I am keeping, and stuff for future lots this is what is left.
Here is something cool, and a reminder of why you need to search all the way down to the bottom of the bins.
It is a Streamlight M3 Tactical Illuminator that is worth about $50 used. It needs batteries, some sort of lithium type that I don't have so I haven't listed it yet. But still a great find.
The last interesting thing from today are these "Jump Soles" - something used to train your jump height, mostly used for basketball training. These are a very high demand item.
For the size I have here there are 10 current listings, and 85(!) sold in the last 90 days. Wow, when the supply/demand is that imbalanced you are able to charge at the top end. That's a little tip for any newer or future eBayers.

I am not sure if that is the really great stapler model or the better than average stapler model, but a good find none the less. (although heavy, and thus pricey)
And that metronome.... the only thing missing to make it mint, new in the package, is the package. And it was probably a plain white paper board box.
The blood pressure monitor sold before anything else. Who knew?
They don't make staplers like they used to, and so that creates an opportunity to sell to those that appreciate the old quality.

I have gotten out and found a few things in my small town, been waiting to get a sale before posting (1 battery charger, and 3 pairs of mens Florsheim shoes in good condition). I need to get out again this week.
I do enjoy the selling of dress shoes.
How much do you pay to ship them? I normally put them in a legal flat rate envelope for $6 something. $6.85 maybe.
No idea honestly, never shipped them before, I was thinking a flat rate box. I got them cheap, half off sale so only $2 each pair. I will probably play around with shipping rates prior to posting to make sure its reasonable.

I wrap them in two plastic grocery bags each. Then one goes sole down flattening the bottom of the envelope. The next one goes sole up and in reverse so that the tip is the opposite end of the one on the bottom.

Then work the top of the envelope over the sole of the shoe on top as best you can, and seal it up. Then tape it so it doesn't come apart.
If it fits, it ships! Though some Post Office counter workers don't like it, so I always drop it in the box. Doing it this way will save you $5 in shipping costs each sale. I have never had a complaint!

Ok, I think I understand, I had to go to USPS to take a look. I think you referring to the Padded Flat Rate Envelope for $7.1. Honestly never knew they had those. Don't see them sitting out at my local post office. I was thinking of the cardboard Flat Rate Envelope for $6.70. No way you can get much more than an inch in the cardboard one!
No, only the smallest of shoes will fit in a padded. I am talking about a flat legal envelope.
If you are going to be selling on eBay you really need to get padded flat rate and legal rate envelopes as well as both varieties of regional rate 'A' boxes and both types of 'B' boxes. All that is obtained from the usps website for free.
Well approaching 1000$ in monthly earning from a side hustle is really cool!

Not really. It's very difficult to get feedbacks. Since the start of the experiment I did a "only leave feedback when I get one" policy and have nearly 60 feedbacks I am waiting on.
Course, some haven't got their items yet as it is in the mail. Point is, I have sold many thousands of items, and my rep is still far below 1,000.
Some nice finds @getonthetrain. The jump soles are cool. You might try ole @brianphobos as I know he is into dunking and increasing his vertical. He may well want to take a look at that ;)

Actually, it is going about how I expected.
I mean I have sold on eBay for years, just that I never went every single day to the Goodwill Outlet. I should end up with a few thousand from this experiment in a few months after most everything has sold.
