Goodwill Outlet Income Experiment Residual Sales - Weeks 8 & 9
Profiting From the Goodwill Outlet In 30 Days
Back on March 18th, 2018 I started a 30-day experiment. It was to go to the Goodwill Outlet every single day for 30 days in a row with the aim to find as many profitable items to resell.
After that first 30 days, I had realized a profit of $1,300.78.
One week later that profit had ballooned to $1,689.31.
Two more weeks passed by and my profit had hit a high of $1,970.29!
Then two more weeks rolled on and my profit bumped up to $2,072.29.
Time passed by and two weeks later my profit had hit $2,312.28.
Now it is two weeks later.
I have not included any items I found thrifting after that first 30 days. Everything I show you here was found within that first month. The only work required from now on is to pack and ship.
It is now a semi-passive income - however limited it is.
Here is what sold during the past two weeks
I had some good sales.
I sold the Ergotron monitor mount. I was even able to take it apart and fit it inside a large flat rate USPS box for $17.95 shipping.
Also, surprisingly, I sold the Coleman propane camping heater - in June! I certainly thought I would have to wait until next September, at the earliest, for it to sell.
Total Sales Revenue = $264.83
Total Profit = $145.89
Add the profit from these last two weeks to our previous total and we get:
$2,458.17
If you consider 4 hours per day for those 30 days, we are realizing an hourly wage of $20.48.
Not too shabby.
What am I going to do with this money?
All my side hustle income gets invested in one way or another, which is buying my family's future freedom.
Right on! Glad to hear you're still pulling in money from the experiment. Have you gone back to start another 30 day experiment? That's pretty good money. Seems like it would be difficult to pass up if you have the time.
I have been back a few times, but not regularly. The wife wouldn't appreciate me spending time away...
I could see that. It it's four hours per day that she's used to seeing you, it might be a bit much. That's ok, you can just do it once in a while and make some extra money, but still get to enjoy time with your family.
That's great that you're still managing to sell our findings @getonthetrain. So close to $2.5K now. Surely you will be there by the time of your next post. 😁
Are you still enjoying it?
Best job I ever had.
Thanks for sharing this with us, mostly people dont share when they start making money from some channel/source.
No problem, its fun!
Lovely ... keep taking this as fun and keep sharing the knowledge with humans.
Well with this latest crypto crash I'm going to have to get back on the horse with FeeBay and SCAMAZON
Sigh.....
Yeah, I started this project back in the March crash because of this reason.
Great update on the hustle! It already has delivered way more than I would have expected!
And still you need to melt the gold! Would be great if you can start another 30 days experiment but then raising the bar to 2.5K or so!
Cheers,
Peter
Yeah, just imagine how much the total profit would be if I never stopped going! $$
@getonthetrain always enjoy the Side Hustle review........
I love this, it shows that there are plenty of non traditional ways to make money if your willing to look and work hard. You don't have to get a 9-5 that doesn't work for your family.
Yes there is and the more you do it the more money you see sitting around waiting for someone to go and pick it up!
I wonder how much of an impact this national sales tax law will have on reselling. In terms of cost it may only be a few dollars, but there will be more expenses for software, or an accountant, and a lot more paperwork.
Oh, I would guess eBay and Amazon would work it into the system automatically. We shall see.
I haven't seen your big lot of nerf yet.
Are you going to go back to the outlet for more?
It was fun to read your posts, i am sure you would make even more steem this time.
Maybe once or twice a week?
Yea, I have been back about once per week since then.
I still have all the nerf - and then some! I found more on my later visits. I have an arsenal now, haha.
This is retail arbitrage on steroids! The only way to top it would be to get items for free. Hmmm. I wonder if there's any free listings on Craigslist that could be worth selling? Such a good idea to maximize margins this way!
Oh yeah, free would be great. This is the next best thing.
