(Documentary) - Exposing The Absurdity of Intellectual Prpoerty - Steal This Video (Please!)
Jame Corbett from the @corbettreport shares another excellent documentary exposing a fundamentally important topic that has reshaped our world in recent decades to the point of causing catastrophe in several ways. Intellectual Property attempts to assert property rights to ideas in the same way that they are assigned to physical land/housing.. One key problem with this is that ideas are able to be reused endlessly, yet the planet's physical space is not - which is part of why we have property rights on land in the first place. This fundamental denial at the heart of the IP system has hugely limited human potential, all while claiming to be the only possible way we can have innovation! Somehow no-one told the IP proponents that innovation happened long before IP was thought up.. In truth, it seems that the IP proponents are the ones who don't understand innovation - as evidenced in their own idea being absolutely no kind of innovation on what came before. Note: As stated in the video, there are no scientific studies that show that IP actually improves innovation and there are many which show that it hinders innovation.
