Not really sure what to make of this. If he was preserving them (so many of them) he evidently wasn't selling them. Based on the lack of information at this time, I have heard nothing regarding them being in various stages of dissection for research purposes, nor that he had the equipment to conduct such experimentation.
At this point, it seems there just isn't enough information to speculate on why he was preserving them.
We will need to wait for more details, but to preserve that many likely meant he was also selling them when he could. He could have just been a sicko into some fucked up fetish too(people are into pedophilia with infants).
A lot of baby parts are worth a lot of money. You can sell baby parts on the black market and basically get somewhere around 10,000 USD to 50,000 USD depending on what it is. I have read about peole being caught before in it. Legally, places like stemexpress buy baby parts for tens of thousands of dollars per baby as well.

Rather than speculate over what the purposes were behind preserving 1,000's of unborn fetuses for yourself, I'd just call it something with a satanic or occult compulsion behind it.

The lack of information to me about current intent belies a more sordid purpose than just have a collection of fetus in jars.
My sense is that abortion has never really been about advancing women's rights (under the euphemism of "reproductive health"), but rather as a proxy issue through which to advance nihilism. The way I see it, when there is no meaning in life, then human life itself has no meaning, and thus no moral value attached to it. The deceased "doctor" in question is a poster boy for what I'm talking about (albeit a dead one).
I'm now completely off Twitter, but up until the end I was constantly amazed at how far radical "pro-choice" people would go to dehumanize the unborn, sometimes even going as far as equating it with a parasite or even a sexual intruder(!). Yep, being conceived apparently makes one a rapist before they are even born.
