RESURRECTION OF THE THRONE
It has to be at least 30 years since I parked my Gluteus Maximus on the Throne. That is a good thing I guess, but there is something to be said about a good outhouse, one that does not repulse your olfactory sensory neurons.
Robin has been asking me for years to referbish the Throne. Up to this point I have been some what resistant to the idea. But, lately I have come over to her side. The Throne is one of the few remaining artifacts left from when we first bought the property. The first house we built was the outhouse. Back in the day it was a picture of beauty. It had a door and the interior was covered with pictures of Yankee legends, including The Babe, Joe D., Reggie, Jeter, Roger Maris, Yogi Bera and my all time favorite, The Mic.
I believe that the only reason the old girl is still standing is for the roof. The roof is made from Zinc. When I was In business with my two brothers we installed all types of metal roofing systems. The Zinc pan and batten roof on the Throne came off of one of our jobs. Zinc makes a great roof and can be found on some of the oldest buildings throughout Europe.
Many hours were spent in this exact position contemplating the future. One thought that was always present was what would this piece of dirt we had just purchased for $9,500 become. Over time that question has been answered. The farm is now a gathering place for family and friends. A place where troubles are left behind and good food and laughter tickle the senses. With that said, how has it taken me so long to realize the value of the Throne. As this project moves along I will keep you posted.
