The Shopping Game- 07/23/2020
Date- 23rd July 2020.
Yet another shopping day, #theshoppinggame
For the last one year, I was planning to buy the Philips brand Mixer Grinder(Model- HL-7756), but until today I could not able to accomplish that goal for an obvious reason(insufficient budget). During the last one and half months or so, I am quite active in Steem Blockchain and my discipline and perseverance are really paying off lately.
I consolidated my Steem earning and at last managed to match the required budget to buy the Philips brand Mixer Grinder today. It is really a wonderful day.
But I did not stop there, I also went to the Supermarkets to buy the essentials and fruits as the day after tomorrow another lockdown will be imposed(as anticipated by me earlier). So today I also got a lot of essentials and fruits. It's a huge shopping day for me.
What was my budget for today's shopping?
Today in my Bank account I had 5900 INR(~$79.08), as these days I am directly paying by swiping my debit card, I always check my bank account balance before going out to market.
For the Mixer grinder, I already enquired about the price through telephonic conversation with the store staff, so I knew the price before reaching out to the store.
For essentials, I did not have any fixed mindset, what to buy and I just went out, and whatever I feel as essentials, just got those items from the store. It was very crowded today in the Supermarkets(because of the lockdown announcement from 25th onwards).
So the maximum budget for me today was 5900 INR(~79.08 USD).
Where did I go for today's shopping?
For mixer grinder, I walked down to Croma Store, DB Mall, Bhopal(the biggest mall in the city, a beautiful one) which is 7.8 KM from my home. I hired an auto for the 'up and down' journey.
For daily essentials, I walked down to Reliance Smart today which is hardly half a kilometer from my home.

What I bought?
Today I bought the following items--
From Croma Store-
- Philips Mixer Grinder HL-7756/00 3 Jar 750 Watt
From Reliance Mart-
- Mustard Oil
- Banana
- Pomegranate
- Sunfeast Biscuit-250 g
- All-in-one snacks
- Besan- 500 g pack
- Sooji- 500 g pack
- Pears
- Vermiceli- 450 g pack
- Paras Desi Ghee
- Coriander Powder- 100 g
- Loose Poha(Flattened Rice)
- Mango Safeda
- Dhara Groundnut Oil
- Loose Urad Dal
- Khada Masala Mix- 100 g
- Mango Langda
- Black Pepper Powder- 50 g
- Sambar Masala- 100 g
- Sugar
Before reaching out to Croma Store, I did little research about the model-7756 which I bought. I also checked the various reviews of this product online. I was quite satisfied with the review and most of the people have given more than 4.2 Star ratings to this product.
Generally Grinder with 750 watt motor makes noise, proper ventilation is essential for any motor above 500 watt and Philips brand excel when it comes to that and this model has an advanced ventilation system. Philips also claims that one can use this grinder for 25 mins continuously.
I also checked its body parts, jars, etc after unboxing the Mixer Grinder at home and it's really amazing. It really looks durable to me and the transparent lid will also help me during grinding.
So now I can prepare a lot of delicious dishes at home and my favorite south Indian food also.
Luckily, I found that in Croma Store(DB city mall), no one is objecting to taking shots of the store and other things. That is why I managed to take some shots and now being able to share it with you. In Supermarkets, the staff objects if you take shots.
After returning from the Croma store, I immediately headed off to Reliance Smart. Fruits are must every alternate day as currently I am taking fruits only(until 3rd Aug) and as lockdown has been announced and will be enforced from 25th onwards I am forced to buy other essentials also.
It was fully crowded today and people queuing up outside the mall, I managed to enter the mall after 20 mins of waiting outside the mall. Anyway, I managed to buy what I wanted to.
Today's offer was "Sugar" which was super cheap, one can buy a maximum of 1 KG of Sugar at a price of 9 INR(0.12 USD) only. So I got my one KG of Sugar at such a cheap rate today.
Other items I got at a reasonable rate, at least I was satisfied that with lockdown announcement they did not hike the price of daily essentials. That is what I like about Reliance Smart.
What was the payment method?
In the Croma store, you can pay by Cash/Card. I paid by swiping my Debit Card.
You can pay by Cash/Card/PayTM/UPI in "Reliance Mart". I paid for it by swiping my Debit Card.
I am also attaching herewith the bill for today's shopping.

Summary of my Shopping
Here I have given the details in a tabulated format for better understanding. I have also calculated it in the equivalent of USD and STEEM.
So in today's shopping, combining both "Mixer Grinder"(from Croma Store) and "Daily essentials(from Reliance Smart), the total spending was 5027.97 INR or 67.4 USD or 312.03 STEEM.
I went to the market with a budget of 79.08 USD and the total shopping cost me 67.4 USD. So I managed to save 11.68 USD and that much is left in my bank account now.
So that's all for today's #theshoppinggame. Thank you @steemitblog, for giving me an opportunity to partake in #theshoppinggame. It has earned my living these days.
Thank you.
Unless otherwise stated, all the images are my original works.
I liked your shopping especially fruits, vegetables and other vegan products you bought. Langda Aam is also my favourite in this season. We used to eat 1-2 kg mango every day.
You had a good deal of Mixer grinder.
Thanks for sharing your shopping!
Thank you.
This is really a beautiful shopping. I like fruits and the blender part of it. I need to set up some things for my house also, but money hasn't been flowing in enough. I hope things get better soon.
Stay well!
Thank you.
Hi @sapwood, I really like the first pic in this post, looks great..!
I have a question, why you can only buy 1 Kg of sugar? I saw the price in the invoice and it is really cheap..!
Your new Mixer Grinder is so beautiful, enjoy it..!
And do not forget to publish the recipes you prepare with this.
If they will allow buying more than 1 KG of Sugar unlimited quantity, then people will buy quintals of Sugar, and then they will sell it at a 4x price in the market. Just to ensure that this offer is not abused, the Supermarkets has kept an upper cap to buy 1 KG of Sugar at a price of 9 INR only. However, if anyone wants to buy more than 1 KG, he can still buy but with the normal rate which is 38 INR per KG.
That is a good reason, here that happened a few years ago, and those people who used to buy cheap items in a abusive way and them resell them, were called "bachaqueros" (insect bigger than the ant)
You are right. Any offer must come with a protective blanket to prevent abuse.
