THE SHOPPING GAME : 16/07/2020 Going Green
Hey People!!!
Greetings of the day!!!
I am Rashmi from India and today is a shopping day for me.
I am a homebody and I dislike going outside but my mother is busy with some online webinar and my sister is working from home.
Well I’m busy too but it seems my doings are not a priority (family right .... they always have something on you😔)
Being the Superhero that I am (hiding a sarcastic chuckle😅), today I attempted to go buy vegetables and fruits.
If you are thinking, “So buying a bag of veggies, what’s the big deal???”🤔
IT IS A BIG DEAL 🤯.... My mother is super picky about her veggies ... no spots, adequate size, proper colour and perfect quantity.
Let’s hope I get them all right.
The time is 09:30 AM and the forecast is Mostly Cloudy with high Chances of Rain.
If you are buying veggies then you gotta be the early bird, veggies in India sell like hot potatoes or hot pies.
It’s being raining all night and the roads are drenched and filled with rain puddles.
I walk down to the Local Grocery store near my house armed with Mask, Umbrella and cloth bags
(Stay Safe and Keep our Nature Safe - My family Motto💜).

So I finally reach the shop and this is the scene.
I pick my choice of veggies after all the careful checks. The Man at the counter told me to ask him if I need any help. I’m sure I look like a lost kitten (nowhere that cute but same degree of helplessness😐)
I get all the fruits and veggies weighed and billed and make my way back home. It’s still raining and I’m going Splash Splash Splash.
Some people hate the cold and the rain while others dislike sunny and warm, but I feel every weather has its own charm.
So on reaching home I put all my veggies in the kitchen and sort them over at their respective places.
These are the things I managed to buy:
▪️Sweet Pumpkin (Yellow Pumpkin)
▪️Cucumber
▪️Tomatoes
▪️Bananas
▪️Capsicum (Bell Pepper)
▪️Onion
▪️Chilies
Mom said that they look ok and was proud of my effort. Now I feel more of a superhero (No sarcastic chuckle this time 😏)
The total cost of my adventure is ₹ 214
i.e, USD 2.85 (Conversion Rate at USD 1 = ₹75.22) and STEEM 13.97 (Conversion Rate at STEEM 1 = ₹15.32).

all those vegetables all look vibrant and yummy, the other thing i notice is no plastic wrap around them.
We have plastic wrap around a few vegetables we buy here but i would prefer them like your ones - sold as they are

Some stores sell vegetables in plastic wraps but we also don’t prefer buying them.
It’s best to handpick them.

That is why we go out, right. Your mother have the experiences and she understands very well when it comes to preparing a dish out of those vegetables. That is why her choice and picking up the shape, size, and color are very nuanced and I appreciate that.
If the weather and various seasons do not change, then everyone would begin to hate.
Be it nature or your life, change is the only constant. And we all love that and we transform through that.
Everything is reasonable in value except tomato and onion if I compare the same with my locality. Here Onion is only 15 INR per KG and tomato is 25 INR per KG.
Despite that I must say, the bill perfectly describes a typical Indian vegetable market. We must feel lucky(if you check the #theshoppinggame posts from various other parts of the world).
That said, I always prefer to buy vegetables from street vendors, and that is primarily guided by the fact that they are indeed very fresh, Supermarkets you may or may nor get that freshness.
