Particle Man's Curation Particles, August 1

This is a weekly feature of some of the work @themesopotamians project has supported on Steem through the @particleman account. The Mesopotamians provides ongoing support to certain selected users in hopes of building a cooperative and growing middle class on Steem.

One of our newest users is the artist @scrawly, who did this great atmospheric drawing of a young man out for a walk with his bird. I really love the subtlety of the raven against the background, how it's almost camouflaged, and you have to look closely to see that it's there. The texture of the whole piece is also amazing.

@arseniclullaby wrote a long draft email to his mailing list about Steem. I think the things he prioritized in his description are excellent. Sometimes we talk about "come for the money, stay for the community" as a characteristic of Steem, but I like that he's reversing things and pitching it as "come for the community, stay for the money." There are a lot of ways in which things really are better here than they are on the mainstream social media sites, even without the financial component.

@elsiekjay took a video of her nephew getting his polio immunization. Kenya recently had an issue with discovering a new strain of polio, and all young children had to be re-immunized. Public health is very important to me, so it's very cool to get to see this process form the patient's perspective.

@insideoutlet wrote a wide-ranging ULog that ranges from parenting to ficuses to disability to water supply, but is also a lot about Empire Records, which is pretty much an automatic ticket to curation here. If you feel like you're not getting featured enough, you can always write about Empire Records, which is a lovely and weird movie about working in a record store.
