This is a sculpture by George Segal located at 51-53 Christopher Street in the Greenwich Village Area.
It consist of four figures, two men standing and two woman sitting.
They statues were cast from actual people, infact one of the men is a good friend on one of the people I know where I live.
This art piece had funding and was approved initially in 1982, however a public outcry and a planned renovation of Christopher Park ( completed in 1985 ) sidelined the project and these statues were eventually unveiled in 1992

That's a great monument! I work in this neighborhood. Great part of the city!
I have generally only visited that area in my early morning walks, but it does seem a very nice area

NO I couldnt find why he choose that way other than he apparently did this style occassionally

Sorry I have missed a few posts of recent just caught up with a couple, funny thing is you did make it to where i grew up, the Mission Winery is between Napier and Hastings in a town called Napier, thats where i grew up, I even worked at the Mission Winery , well before it was a winery
